If you are looking for the best Archetype to play in the game or have any questions about them, my New World Aeternum Archetype tier list will be handy. It ranks all the Archetypes, shares details on their starting weapon, armor, and profession, and recommends the best ones you can use.
New World Aeternum features seven different Archetypes, which many call character classes.
While Archetypes are a completely new addition to New World Aeternum, they are not much different from what we already had in New World.
New World featured different weapon classes that players could wield, level up, and master to unlock new skills and build a class around.
To generalize and simplify it for new players, when you create a new character in the game, you can select from seven different Archetypes.
Based on your decision, you will have different primary and secondary weapons and starting professions.
With all that being out of the way, let us check out my New World Aeternum Archetype tier list.
New World Aeternum Archetype tier list

Before I move to the tier list, here are some major factors that I have used to rank the different Archetypes:
- The starting Profession
- Starting weapon and armor
- How versatile the Archetype is
- How effective the Archetype is in PvP and PvE
- Solo play
- Effectiveness in class-specific roles
Other factors are also involved, like how I felt playing the different weapons in the original New World, their use cases in different scenarios, and such things.

Lastly, tier lists are highly, like super duper subjective and can significantly vary based on person to person.
So, if you don’t agree with my tier list and the different Archetype rankings, that’s fine. In fact, I’d like you to share your thoughts in the comments.
That said, here’s my ranking for each Archetype in New World Aeternum:
| Tier | Archetype |
| S | Musketeer, Ranger, Soldier |
| A | Destroyer, Occultist |
| B | Mystic |
| C | Sword Bearer |

Do you get locked out of other weapons and professions after selecting an Archetype?

No! As I mentioned earlier, the game still remains the same as before. You don’t get locked out of anything.
You can choose whatever weapon you want, whatever profession you level up in, and such things.
The only difference with New World Aeternum’s Archetype system is that you get a slight kickstart towards a particular playstyle.
Which Archetype should you play as in New World Aeternum?

When it comes to Archetype selection, it depends on what playstyle you prefer and what Professions you would like to play in the early to mid-game, as in the late game, you must level up most of them as they are co-related.
For example, I prefer high DPS over Tank’iness and range over close-quarter combat, especially for PvP.
Even in PvE, the more swift my character is, the more cool-looking the skills are, the more I fall in love with the Archetype.
So, I will play in the new server as the Musketeer or the Ranger.
Similarly, if you like to play as Tank, I recommend you choose the Soldier Archetype.
If you want to play as a Support, go with the Mystic Archetype.
For pure DPS, the Musketeer is the best choice, and it is even better than the Ranger in many areas.
So, which Archetype are you going to choose? Let me know in the comments.
That concludes my New World Aeternum Archetype tier list and the best to use. If the article helped, please consider buying me a Coffee to help me create more content. You can also share the guide with your friends or leave a comment.
