Pokemon GO New Year’s 2026 is going to feature a few Shiny Pocket Monsters as wild encounters and raid bosses. 

​This event will start on December 31, 2025, at 10:00 AM Local Time and end on January 4, 2026, at  8:00 PM Local Time. 

​During the event period, trainers will be able to catch and train creatures from various regions. If they are lucky, they may also encounter shiny versions of the creatures. 

​This article lists five shiny Pokemon that are worth hunting for during the Pokemon GO New Year’s 2026 event.

5 Shiny Pokemon worth encountering in Pokemon GO New Year’s 2026

1) Shiny Party Top Hat Pikachu

Shiny Party Top Hat Pikachu, also known as the Mouse Pokemon, is an Electric-type creature from the Kanto region. 

During the Pokemon GO New Year’s 2026 event, it can be found in the wild and in one-raids. 

​It can also be claimed as a reward from the New Year’s 2026 Premium Timed Research, which will expire on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time. 

​If you use Lure Modules and Incense, then you can attract wild Party Top Hat Pikachu to your location. 

​When you encounter more of these creatures, you may eventually come across a shiny one. 

Ground-type counters to defeat Party Top Hat Pikachu:

  • Primal Groudon: Mud Shot and Precipice Blade
  • Mega Garchomp: Mud Shot and Earth Power

​Shiny Ribbon Jigglypuff, best known as Balloon Pokemon, belongs to the Kanto region. It is a dual Normal- and Fairy-type Pocket Monster, which means it is weak to Poison- and Steel-type attacks. 

​With a light-blue colour bow-tie on the back of its head, Shiny Ribbon Jigglypuff looks ready to rock at the New Year’s event.

​Gengar and its shiny version are dual Ghost- and Poison-type Pocket Monsters. Therefore, they are weak to Dark-, Ghost-, Ground-, and Psychic-type moves.

​Raticate and its variants are Normal-type monsters, meaning they are vulnerable to Fighting-type moves.
