Greetings Hunters! Monster Hunter Wilds has arrived, and while it’s a relatively accessible entry in the franchise, there are still a few things that it doesn’t necessarily explain.

For instance, how do you change your Bowgun’s ammo to deal elemental damage?

It’s something I struggled with for a while in the early hours and discovered accidentally in the midst of a tense encounter with a Uth Duna.

As such, without further ado, here’s how you change Bowgun ammo in Monster Hunter Wilds.

How to swap Bowgun ammo in Monster Hunter Wilds

You can change Bowgun ammo in Monster Hunter Wilds by pressing L1/LB on your controller.

Doing so will show all the ammo types you currently have, like Pierce Ammo, Sticky Ammo, Water Ammo, and so forth.

You can browse and select between available ammo types by pressing Triangle/Y on X/A on your controller.

On Keyboard, you can use the Tab to access the Radial Menu and scroll between available ammo types by pressing W or S.

And that’s pretty much it!

Certain monsters will be weak or immune or specific ammo types, and knowing which ones to use when can make things a lot of easier in battles.

For instance, Uth Duna is resistant to Water, which means it’s susceptible to fire, and you would want to use Flaming Ammo to deal massive damage.

How to craft Bowgun ammo in Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds lets you craft ammo and potions on the fly.

To craft Bowgun ammo, simply access the Crafting List option in the Items & Equipment tab and scroll right to the Ammo section.

Here, you will find the option to craft all ammo types.

Since this list can be overwhelming, it’s best to mark ammo types that you are more likely to use as favorites and change the Display All filter option to Favourites only.

Thankfully, most ammo types require basic materials that you can easily find in Monster Hunter Wilds’ various open zones.

For instance, to craft a Flaming Ammo, you only need Fire Herb.

How to customize Bowgun ammo in Monster Hunter Wilds

You can even customize Bowgun ammo in the Equipment Box section of the Base Camp Menu.

Mods increase the carrying capacity of certain ammo types and can be effective in particular encounters.

For instance, if you are facing off against a monster that’s weak to some element, you should equip the Elemental Boos Magazine to increase the carrying capacity of all elemental ammo.

Likewise, you can swap your equipped Bowgun’s special ammo in the customization ammo.

Each weapon is compatible with different types of special ammo, and knowing which to choose can make things easier or more difficult in battles.

Hence, if you plan to use a Bowgun as your primary or secondary weapon, it’s best to customize it according to your build and playstyle.

That is everything you need to know about how to change Bowgun ammo in Monster Hunter Wilds. If the article helped, please consider buying me a Coffee to help me make more content. You can also share the guide with your friends or leave a comment.
