If you are having trouble deciding whether to use the Standard or Classic controls in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, this guide will help you.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero features two default control styles, Standard and Classic, that players can choose from when setting different settings at the beginning of the game.

While switching between the Standard and Classic controls is as easy as going to Controls and Camera options and swapping the control layout, it is still hard to decide which one works best in the game.

Even though you can completely remap your controls!

So, if you are also confused about which control style you should use in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, keep reading!

Why one should choose Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Standard control style

The Standard control in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is a modern layout, allowing players to perform complex game mechanics easily.

It also eliminates the many button presses that are necessary for specific abilities.

For example, if you need to perform Perception, a defensive skill, you must press the ‘O’ key on your DualSense and the ‘B’ button on the Xbox controller.

On the other hand, the same skill with Classic controls requires pressing ‘△’ + ‘⭘’ to perform Perception.

Apart from that, players who have played the recent Dragon Ball games would also be more comfortable with the Standard controls.

That being said, one of the biggest reasons why one can go with the Standard control is performing character swaps and associated mechanics like Chase Change, Fusion, and transforming more easily.

The above three things and the associated mechanics are horrendous to perform with the Classic controls.

You cant!

You will mess up things like Chase Change with the Classic controls so many times that you instead of having fun, it will become infuriating.

So, there’s that too!

Why one should choose Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Classic control style

For Nostalgia! To check your muscle memory.

I am using the Classic controls, and the best part is that I didn’t need any tutorials.

I knew how to Ascend and Descend, perform Ki Blasts, Rush Attacks, and special attacks like Kamehameha and Spirit Bomb, among other things.

The Classic controls are a blessing to players who have played the Budokai Tenkaichi 3, as almost every control remains the same.

On the same note, while the Standard controls are more tailored towards new players or for players who want to use different mechanics more easily, I still prefer Classic controls, and I find them simple too.

The general feel of the key mapping feels good!

But remember that I have played Budokai Tenkaichi 3 for thousands of hours, which is a significant factor in why I feel more comfortable with the Classic controls.

Now, the big elephant in the room—didn’t I say Classic control has the most messed up when it comes to swapping characters, performing Chase Change, Fusion, and so on?

Yes!

That is a major issue that you can easily fix by changing the ‘Directional Buttons’, aka the D-Pad, to Standard from the ‘Controls & Camera’ options.

By doing so, you can enjoy the Classic controls without messing up during fights while transforming, fusing, or swapping characters and performing associated mechanics.

Which control you should choose in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero?

If you are a returning player from Budokai Tenkaichi 3, you can go with the Classic control style and just change the Directional Buttons to Standard.

On the other hand, if you are a new player or someone who has played the recent Xenoverse games, you can opt for the Standard Controls.

Also, you can remap your controls based on your preference.

So, making slight changes as per your liking will make the control style even more comfortable to use.
