While playing Nioh 3, you might have noticed the pop-ups that say, “A Bloodedge Demon has appeared” and the ones that say, “The direction of the Revenant’s malice has been marked on the map.”
But what does that mean?
Well! It is nothing but a notification that the optional boss, Bloodedge Demon, has appeared nearby, and you can defeat him to get some lucrative loot.
The direction of the Revenant’s malice has been marked on the map

When you are in the open world, whenever you defeat a Revenant, those fallen players whom you can summon via those red swords.
You got it right?

So, whenever you defeat them, you get the message “The direction of the Revenant’s malice has been marked on the map.”

If you open your map, you will find an arrow pointing in a particular direction.

Follow that direction, and you will arrive at the spawn location of the Bloodedge Demon.
It is hard to miss as the Bloodedge Demon spawn has a big blue orb with a blue energy wave coming out of the ground, forming a big orb in the air. Just like the one that you see in the above screenshot.

Go near it and press the respective button to “Face the Bloodedge Demon.”
Doing so will summon the boss. He will stay there in case you lose, which you will. You can keep summoning him until you defeat him.

Just don’t progress the main story by a lot. As that despawns, the Bloodedge Demon fight.
Even if that particular Bloodedge Demon spawn despawns, you can again defeat Revenants to get a new spawn.
A Bloodedge Demon Has Appeared

Now, when you are in the Crucible, instead of the message “The direction of the Revenant’s malice has been marked on the map,” you get the pop-up, “A Bloodedge Demon has appeared.”
Find and defeat him within the Crucible for high-tier loot.
And that is it. That is what these two texts mean. While you are here, check out what happens if you beat Nioh 3’s Tokugawa Kunimatsu during the prologue? and my Nioh 3 Insatiable Hunger side mission walkthrough.
