Soulframe Prelude 12 patch notes

New Nightfold Vendor: Zenith

A mysterious new merchant has arrived in the Nightfold: Zenith, a Dale seer camel who has somehow gone unnoticed by the Ode. An ordinary member of the enslaved Arid Caravan except…what’s that hanging around his neck?

Though not much of a conversationalist, Envoys can now interact with Zenith in the Nightfold to access Soulframe Founders and other Wares.

Purchases no longer need to be made from an inanimate weapon rack.

Greatsword

A new grip type arrives: the Greatsword. A heavy, sweeping weapon with its own distinct Combat Arts.

Built for devastating wide swings and crushing power, the Greatsword offers a fresh flow for those who favour deliberate, high-impact combat.

The Paragon

The master greatsword of Wyld legend.

Not forged of marrow, nor plucked of lash. Not snapped from sacred tree. The Paragon greatsword was sung into being by the Empress of Eldveil. Her voice carved its curves, shaped it sharp. Within the hilt, the virtues of Wylds three… Within the blade, something even more powerful.

You are the second Envoy to wield it. The first etched a threat upon the blade: “Return to Bayor.”

Become a Soulframe Paragon Founder today to wield The Paragon

Needleseye

The unusual greatsword of the Child-Queen Muireall Jotar.

Though small for her age, 11 year-old Muireall insisted that her ritual coronation blade should be a greatsword. The court steelsinger forged the hilt in the likeness of Muireall’s dear cat, Fleabert, and hollowed the blade so that her tiny majesty might be able to lift it. Amused by the shape, she named it Needleseye, and swung the great thing one-handed.

Fragments for Needleseye drop from Faction Tales.

Purity

The undead greatsword of a Mendicant knight.

Named for the owner’s intentions, Purity was there in the Fonnish Charge, tucked into her scabbard. Though her knight, like most others on that wretched march, perished before he could draw his sword. She waited in her scabbard. Eras rose and fell. Until at last, her knight climbed from the grave to draw her at last.

Fragments for Purity will drop from a certain undead King…

“Rise, Envoy”: New Player Experience Improvements

You lay asleep upon the shore. While a sparrow waits to guide you. While an old man calls from an empty cottage. While a whisper from the Silvern guesses your family tree. The dale seer is near. Rise, Envoy.

  • New Envoys awaken on the shoreline and are guided by the Sparrow to an empty cottage, where our journey more clearly begins.
  • Try before you choose: Starting Pacts and Weapons are now tested in the Nightfold before committing to a chosen path. This replaces the former starter-gear chest in The Last Pensive. Unchosen starting weapons now must be earned normally.
  • Better guidance for early systems: Improved tutorialization for Spectral Sight, the Spirit Guide, and other key early-game mechanics to help you get your bearings.
  • Improved The Last Pensive with added tutorialization, refined early-game combat, and clearer flow and guidance.
  • Improved the opening of The Torment Stag with better guidance, refined enemy and chest placements, and smoother interactions with Avakot (including making it easier to break Avakot’s cage with bows).
  • Please Note: Further customization options during the opening of the game, Warsongs, will arrive in later Updates. Concept pieces for this and more can be seen/spoiled below!

Spoiler

The Agari

A new name has been given to the lurking sub-bosses scattered across Alca: The Agari.

New Agari now stalk the Neath’uns, Glades of Andurin, and the Dermak Undercity, including Seachnall The Widower, Gourdo, Fore-Feller Hewyl, Sinecure-errant Vella, and Gruul Seeker Sontaro.

Existing Agari have received broad combat and balance improvements to reinforce their identity as powerful challenges in the world. Animations, stability, health, armour, and rewards have been refined, and updated UI now accompanies these encounters.

Defeat the Agari to earn Runes and other rare treasures. Be wary of these fierce foes… especially when you invoke The Cogah.

The Cogah

A forgotten Fey war ritual rises again. Once used to test the resolve of Fey warriors against the Agari, The Cogah returns as a player-triggered elixir challenge. Drink it, and the world of Soulframe turns darker, crueler…and far more rewarding.

To complete the Cogah was to triumph against the odds. Now, Envoy, that trial is yours.

How To Begin The Cogah

  • Discover the Witch Verminia by completing The Brewer of Hues, and level her to Rank 1.
  • Defeat the Agari and gather Agaric mushrooms. A warty mushroom, also known as a Feystool. A potent source of magick, traditionally consumed in the Fey ritual of The Cogah. Old superstitions say that one who craves Agaric, has been marked as an enemy of the Fey. For any creature who eats too much is cursed to become mushroom food in turn.
  • Bring the Agaric to Verminia to craft The Cogah Elixir, an ancient Fey rite meant to be drunk before battle.
  • Drink the elixir to begin the Ritual of The Cogah. Seek out Agari lost, and soon you’ll taste the cost!

The Cogah

The world shifts under Cogah. A red glow settles across Alca. Difficulty rises and survival becomes uncertain. While under its effects:

  • Enemy level is increased and enemies grow stronger as you defeat the Agari.
  • Envoys are debuffed.
  • Arcanic cooldowns are increased.
  • Health Elixir drops become rarer.
  • The duration of melee health recovery is reduced.

Cogah can be entered solo or in squads of up to 3. In co-op, allies can freely revive one another as long as at least one Envoy remains standing.

Once a fight begins, Envoys are committed to battle. Running away ends the ritual in cowardice. During an Agari fight, the Nightfold cannot be entered until combat ends.

Rewards

  • Unique Runes.
  • Lore drops.
  • New Talismans that grant buffs during Cogah and track your success in the ritual:
    • The Cogah Lorcaan
      • Where fell the Agari moments ago… now lies this little Lorcaan. A thank you from ‘yond the veil? What gift you gave in exchange, what meaning had The Cogah rite, you know not.
    • The Cogah Creutair
      • A beastly talisman, a feyish gift for an Agari well-fell. This Creutair carries the blessings of grateful Fey… and a bond, a promise, made blindly.
    • The Cogah Grod
      • A tiny carved replica of the blighted Agari you defeated. Marked for death by the fey… and now killed by devoted Envoy. A rite, an offering, repaid by blessed talisman.

Cogah Talisman visual effects and Cogah damage scaling will find their way in a near-future Hotfix.

This ritual is intended for experienced Envoys who want to test their builds, sharpen their skills, and face the Agari under harshest conditions. We welcome your feedback during this first version.

The Cogah ends in cowardice… or in death.

Wevetseeds: Fast Traversal Across Midrath

Voicing Seed, take us home!

After completing The Waste Bear Fable, Envoys receive a curious gift from Bromius: a living plant in the Nightfold that now bears Wevetseeds, a new resource that allows swift travel across Midrath.

Wevetseeds…the sacred child of the Wevetwood. Contained within is the wisdom of the ancients, of the ever-reaching Wevetroots that tunnel beneath all of Midrath.

  • Use Wevetseeds to teleport between cleansed World Trees and to your Enclave’s entrance throughout Midrath.
  • View your Wevetseed inventory in the bottom left of the Map. Each use consumes one seed.
  • Wevetseeds will teleport squad members in multiplayer.

Sieges Rework

Thus, the humble Hamlet of Curlail and its mighty fort are found hoisted from the Dendrit and held in wretched Ode’n machination.

Sieges have received a foreboding rework, including the Siege of Fort Curlail, Ode Infamy, more intuitive starting UI and completion fanfare.

To retake Fort Curlail, Envoys will traverse with Synsylk Grappler and man Bisulcam as you contend with a shifting Castellan, bent on pelting you from afar.

By approaching a captured fort, Envoys will receive an indicator notifying them that they’ve begun a Siege. There is no shame in leaving to recoup, but an Envoy will be alerted that they’re surrendering the Siege.

Ode Infamy

The Ode are keen to know who’s stirring such turmoil upon their captured cobblestone. By completing Sieges, Envoys will earn Ode Infamy.

  • Earn Infamy by successfully burning the Ode Lantern at the end of the encounter.
  • Earn Infamy by eliminating the present Agari.
  • Lose Infamy with each death.
  • Lose Infamy for each remaining Sinecure left standing.
  • Lose Infamy for surrendering the Siege.

Expect the Ode to strike upon your gained Infamy in future updates, lest you fear their ire.

Siege Reward Changes

  • Envoys can expect to see Sieges dropping rewards related to the types of foes within, such as Everflame from Kearnhold, which are in flux and under adjustment!
  • Rewards are granted after burning the Ode Lantern, instead of the Castellan.

Pact Improvements

Volatics crack, an ever-flame imparted, and herds renewed. Preludes 12 brings a host of Pact changes, as well as improvements towards an Envoy’s efforts to cast Arcanics.

Pact and Casting Changes:

  • Re-tuned the duration and range of all Arcanics to better improve the viability and intended effectiveness of all Pacts.
  • Re-tuned the effectiveness of Virtues on Tethren, Sirin, and Oscelda.
  • Increased the effectiveness of enemies receiving fear when casting an Arcanic.
  • Added immunity to Stagger and stumbles while casting Arcanics.
  • Added camera effects (like Tethren, Sirin, or Oscelda) to Ode Tempest, Orengall and Garren Rood.
  • Tweaked Bromius’ camera effects when casting.

Ode Tempest: Voltaics weaken a foe’s Stability, leaving them open for a lethal strike.

  • Astra Sphere:
    • Volatic damage now multiplies all Stability damage delivered to enemies
    • Start-up cast now deals Stability damage
  • Atmos Sphere:
    • Drastically increases an Envoy’s armour instead of granting damage immunity

  • Passives
    • Hungry Flame now applies from Inferno’s self-inflicted damage and casting Ember. These do not stack.
    • Smolder more rapidly applies fire damage and burn buildup
    • Burn, after buildup, applies in an AoE around the initial target
  • Ignus Wroth
    • Increased the fire damage dealt by affected enemies
    • Increased the range of Ignus Wroths’ eruptions
  • Ember
    • Increased the damage from the blast when struck
    • Ember now considers the Envoy on fire.
  • Inferno
    • Massively increased damage dealt
    • Fire damage is now dealt in a small explosion, affecting the player as well
    • Inferno’s explosion will activate Ember’s explosion

Garren Rood: Torment and strike; sunder and Stampede.

  • Passives:
    • Healing from non-Health Elixir sources while your Rune is active now provides additional charge time
  • Torment
    • Torment now deals damage proportional to the enemy’s health
    • The healing leeched is now more proportional to the Envoy’s health
    • Torment can now Smite enemies
    • Torment now only leeches health from enemies within 50m
  • Behest
    • Greatly increases Stability damage dealt to affected enemies
    • Non-heavy enemies are prone to being knocked down when struck
    • Smite chance is doubled on enemies affected by Behest
  • Stampede
    • The Herd of Rood is now more condensed and front-loaded when cast.

New Elixirs and Talismans

Enclaves offer upgraded Talismans and Elixirs, all attuned to their respective Virtues.

New Elixirs

  • Alca’s Children: Dance Galdre
    • Increases Spirit by 10 for 1 hour. A vial of liquid Spirit. Drink to your virtue.
  • The Silent Rose: Shademaker
    • Increases Grace by 10 for 1 hour. A vial of liquid Grace. Drink to your virtue.
  • Kith of Kings: Curaidh’s Breath
    • Increases Courage by 10 for 1 hour. A vial of liquid Courage. Drink when yours is waning.

Verminia, ever the brewer, can concoct each of these Elixirs. Only one can be active at a time, and consuming in succession will cull the previously drunken Elixir.

New Talismans

  • Alca’s Children: Sproutfolk Shoot
    • Increases Spirit by 6. A germinated seed, blessed by many clasped hands. A heartbeat, once faint, thrums with anticipation. A green shoot seems to dance.
  • The Silent Rose: Bloomin’ Bodkin Talisman
    • Increases Grace by 6. An insignia of sword-sharp petals. With a flick, its retracted blades uncoil like a rose in full bloom.
  • Kith of Kings: Molten Mora Talisman
    • Increases Courage by 6. A fiery amber honour, emblazoned with the face of the red sun. Plunged into the everflame, she emerged, smiling.

New Runes and Totems

Runes are now specialized by grip type. Existing Runes on your account have been automatically redistributed to their correct grip types.

New Runes

  • Emberaught (Dagger): The rune of the ember, ready to be stoke.
  • Hurlwind (Flyblade): The rune of the gusts ever-whirlin.
  • Torcheternal (Polearm): The rune of the Fey Torch, alight ‘yond the veil.
  • Forburn (Shield): The rune of the ash tree ever-burning.

The Agari forefend, without The Cogah, withhold such Runes, found here and where:

  • Hurlwind (Flyblade): Discharged Nimrod
  • Emberaught (Dagger): Etheldred The Weaver
  • Archstorm (Magicks): Wraith of Wastes
  • Everflame (Greatsword): Siege Castellans and Mendicant King
  • Forburn (Shield): Sinecure-Errant Gawth and Thrice-Bound Impidh
  • Alca’s Breath (Bow): Gruul Seeker Ruthos
  • Everflame (Longblade): Knell Knight
  • Torcheternal (Polearm): Kabocha

The Envoy, drunken of The Cogah, can seek out new and similar Runes found abound:

  • The Durglint (Shield): Sinecure-Errant Gawth
    • Parried attacks from your shield reflect a portion of the damage back.
  • The Torrent (Bow): Gruul Seeker Ruthos
    • Summon a volley of arrows from the sky upon Smiting.
  • The Flitsmoke (Dagger): Etheldred The Weaver
    • Being cloaked upon Smite, with stealth kills increasing the duration of your stealth.
  • The Hollowing (Magicks): Wraith of Wastes
    • Attacks mark an enemy, with subsequent attacks igniting the mark to deal damage.
  • The Mistgale (Longblades): Knell Knight
    • Release spectral attacks from your blade’s swing.
  • Everflame (Greatsword): Siege Castellan and Mendicant King
  • Hurlwind (Flyblade): Discharged Nimrod
  • Forburn (Shield): Thrice-Bound Impidh
  • Everflame (Longblades): Ode’n Hound
  • Torcheternal (Polearm): Kabocha

More grip-specific Runes will continue to arrive in future updates.

New Totem Variants

New animal Totem variants now appear across different regions of Midrath, offering more ways to shape your build as you charm and rescue animals.

A hearty new bounty of Totems now roam Midrath; such new strengths may manifest to empower beyond a regular swing. Breach through armour with a heavy swing, find health renewed and strike your foes with sprint and dodge, or perhaps even those with a revealed soul…

Totem and Rune Changes

  • Runes now drop from more enemies at a higher rate.
  • Envoys with only one weapon at the beginning of the game are now guaranteed to find a matching Totem to support early-game progression.
  • Runes and Totems now feature improved Inventory filtering by weapon grip for easier loadout management.
  • Envoys can now only equip one type of Totem per slot, e.g., a Longblade with Everflame cannot run two of The Lithe Totems in the attack slot.

New Landmarks and Ode’n Presence in Midrath

Expanded Ode’n Walls

Additional Ode’n walls have been placed throughout the overworld. These structures reshape traversal by introducing new “zones” that create more strategic movement through the landscape.

New Encampments, Bases, and POIs

Midrath now features new bases and landmarks that add a deeper sense of life, presence, and Ode’n occupation. These additions bring more life, presence, and threat to Midrath, offering new pockets of discovery and danger across the region.

“Hark, The Collector”: Mada’s Collector Changes

Mada’s Collector no longer appears in Faction Tales, but now roams Midrath as a timed world event.

The Collector descends only in Level 20+ regions, appearing at a new location every 6 hours. These locations are globally synced for all Envoys, while each account also has a 6-hour cooldown between Collectors.

Additional improvements include refined combat behavior, rebalanced rewards, performance optimizations and visual fixes.
