If you are getting low FPS and struggling with lag and stutters in Avowed on PC, I’ve got you covered with my guide on the best graphics settings for high FPS which doesn’t compromise the visual quality to that extent.

Obsidian’s latest action RPG Avowed is finally here!

And if you have been following the game, you might already know about the jankiness, lag, stutter, and other technical issues that plagued the game’s preview build as reported by press and creators.

Well! Unreal Engine 5 games never disappoint!

Why?

Because most of us already know how it will perform even on decent PCs.

Avowed is a great game plagued with lag and stutters.

On top of all that, there are game-breaking encounters and bugs that corrupt your save file, lock you in a loop with no way to progress further, and much more.

But that is a whole different topic to discuss.

As for this guide, I have shared what I think is the best graphics setting for Avowed that can help you get slight better performance and stable FPS while maintaining the visual fidelity.

Best graphics settings for Avowed

First of all! Before I share the best graphics settings, I want to say that DLSS 3 Performance and such options are not something that you should be using for increasing FPS.

In fact, it is best to keep the Upscaling option to Quality irrespective of your GPU and scaling method.

Why I am saying this?

Because using Upscaling for performance makes the game a visual mess.

The graphics look so bad that you will press ALT + F4 and check your mail for whether you got the Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test access. [Well! I got it.]

That being out of the way, the second thing you must keep in mind is that even with decent GPUs, there are massive FPS drops.

While adjusting the graphics settings will get rid of most of that there are still moments when the game runs awful.

With that said, here’s the best graphics settings for Avowed based on my testing:

  • Field of View: 90 [I tried keeping it on 100 but it doesn’t look good. Plus, it also affects performance.]
  • Motion Blur: Off [Duh!]
  • Vsync: Off
  • Ray Tracing: Off
  • Upscaling: Nvidia DLSS 3 [Choose based on your GPU]
  • DLSS Super Resolution Quality: Quality
  • NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency: On + Boost

Advanced Settings

  • View Distance: Medium or Low
  • Shadow Quality: Medium
  • Texture Quality: High or Epic
  • Effects Quality: High
  • Foliage Quality: Medium or High
  • Post Processing Quality: Epic
  • Reflection Quality: High or Epic
  • Global Illumination Quality: Epic

Note

If you have a low-end PC, just turn down the Texture, Effects, Foliage, and Reflection Quality settings to low or medium.

Avowed Nvidia filter settings to improve visual quality

Turning down some of the graphics settings will surely impact the visuals of the game.

To counter that, I recommend using the below Nvidia filter settings to make the open world feel more vibrant.
