The Division 2 Y8S1 Rise Up added a brand new Classified Assignment to the game called Library of Congress Retrieval.

Completing the Library of Congress Retrieval rewards players with a new Archivist AR, a missable Backpack Trophy, Pyramid, and other items.

That said, just like any other Classified Assignment, Library of Congress Retrieval has multiple puzzles and sections that can easily trip up players.

And so, just like my The Division 2 Lion Eyes guide, I prepared this detailed walkthrough.

Library of Congress Retrieval Classified Assignment Location and access

To start the Library of Congress Retrieval Classified Assignment, you must head to the blue search area near Capitol Hill, as shown in the above screenshot.

Once you arrive, head towards the Botanic Garden’s outer wall, and you will find a sewer entrance.

Take the ladder.

Right after you exit the ladder, turn right, and you will find the gate with the distorted Library of Congress Retrieval Classified Assignment starting point.

You must have the Library of Congress Retrieval Classified Assignment purchased for 500 Credits. If not, you can purchase it by simply interacting with it.

Once the quest starts, head straight.

Collect the first Audio Log found on the box.

Now, turn right and go through the U.S Capitol Tunnel.

The door is locked. To unlock it, you must shoot down the circuit as marked in the screenshot above.

Once you are past the door, follow the main path leading to the Library of Congress.

Once you arrive in the lobby area, you will be tasked to “Secure the lobby.”

Defeat the Hyenas.

After that, take the stairs and head towards the player icon location. You will find the second Audio Log.

To unlock the door, shoot at the circuit right next to the locked door, as shown in the screenshot above.

Now, collect the Audio Log and head towards the locked door leading to the Inner Library.

The Exhibition Room is locked, and to open it, you must find the Librarian’s Credentials.

Go downstairs and interact with the generator.

Now, go past the generator and turn right. Follow the path, and it will lead you to the Librarian’s Room.

In case you are confused, I have shared the map location above.

Once you are inside the Librarian’s Room, interact with the book on the bookshelf to move another shelf behind which is a locked safe.

After that, interact with the picture on the wall and press the button hidden behind it.

Doing so will unlock the hidden safe holding the Librarian’s Credentials.

Now return to the Exhibition Room door on the first floor and interact with it.

There will be a second encounter with the Hyenas. Defeat them.

Go through the window on the other side of the area.

Follow the main path, and it will lead you to the main Reading Room.

There, you will get the third encounter with the Hyenas. Defeat them all.

Now, at this point, you can either progress further, head to the ground floor of the Reading Room, or use a scoped weapon to note down the number sequence and their corresponding symbols required for a final puzzle.

Once you have noted the symbols on the walls and the corresponding number on the ground as marked in the above screenshot, follow the quest marker.

Use the lift to head down.

Now, right after you exit the lift, turn right, and you will find a button on the wall.

Press it to unlock the locked rooms, including Room No. 14, holding the third Audio Log.

After collecting it, go through the Digital Archives and Restoration door.

There, you will have the fourth encounter with the Hyenas, followed by a series of wave-based encounters.

Defeat the Hyenas to secure the area.

After that, interact with the server to “Connect ISAC to the archive server.”

You must remain in the proximity and defeat the enemies.

Once progress reaches 1/3, you must manually restore power.

Once again, head back to the server area and defeat the enemies.

Once progress reaches 2/3, you must manually restore power.

After that, defeat the final wave of enemies.

Go through the door and shut down the power.

Now, follow the quest path.

You will arrive in a central area with two Lifts and a locked room called Archives Directory, inside which you will find an Echo and the Backpack Trophy, Pyramid.

To access the room, you must solve the book symbol puzzle at the end of the quest.

Now, take the elevator ropes.

Once you arrive at the top, turn right and head towards the second elevator door.

Shoot the circuit to unlock the door and drop down.

Collect the fourth Audio Log. After that, head back to the top and follow the quest marker leading to the main hall area.

Once you arrive there, you are tasked to “Defuse the explosives (0/3).”

There’s a timer. So defeat the enemies and gradually diffuse the three explosives.

After that, Sgt. Sawyer will spawn. He is the main boss of the Library of Congress Retrieval Classified Assignment.

Defeat him.

He will drop the new High-End AR, The Archivist, along with the key to the Rare Book Archive.

Now, the quest will ask you to “Leave the library.” But you shouldn’t.

Instead, head back to the Server Room where you fought the waves of enemies. There, you will find the Rare Book Archive.

Unlock the door using the key that you obtained from Sawyer.

Inside the room, you will find the Books, each with a different glowing symbol.

You must interact with them in a certain order to unlock the hidden door.

The correct order is in the Reading Room, as I mentioned earlier. Look at the symbols on the wall and straight to them, near the center of the room, on the ground floor, there will be a number.

Note them down. Most of the time, you will only get I, II, and III. So note the corresponding symbols, as the last remaining one will be IV.
