It’s been six months since Borderlands 4’s launch and more than a quarter since a majority of its player base moved on to a different game.
Currently, the game is in a much better state than it was last year, as Borderlands 4 has gotten a ton of new content, mostly free and some paid, with the biggest one, the Story Pack 1, along with new Vault Hunter, C4SH, dropping in next week.
Seeing that, and to make things easier for new and returning players, I made a list of every major content added to Borderlands 4 since its launch.
October 23, 2025 – Horrors of Kairos (Limited Time)

The Horrors of Kairos was the first new content drop that we got in Borderlands 4 since its September 12 global launch.
The event ran from October 23 to November 6, and while it was the most underwhelming thing to ever exist in the Borderlands franchise, it sure had some great rewards.
My personal favourite? The cosmetics. Also, do you know, you can still get them if you missed the event? Here, claim this SHiFT code: THFB3-R9XKK-CFBJW-T33BB-9R3CC
The event also added limited-time rewards, “Murmur” Legendary Tediore Assault Rifle and “Skully” Legendary Order Grenade.
November 20, 2025 – Bounty Pack 1: How Rush Saved Mercenary Day

On November 20, we got the biggest content drop in Borderlands 4. The game’s first bounty pack is titled “How Rush Saved Mercenary Day.”
And since it was small, kind of not worth the $10 price tag, and people were not so happy with the Horrors of the Kairos event, Gearbox made the Bounty Pack free for all.
A win-win situation for both sides.
So, how is the Bounty Pack 1? It is good. And the fact that Gearbox was kind enough to make it free further increases its value, especially since we even got the first Vault Card with four rerollable gear and a ton of cosmetics for free.
December 11, 2025 – Raid Boss, UVHM 6, True Mode and more

The December 11 update for Borderlands 4 was one of the biggest free updates we got for the game, as it added a new UVHM level and a new, more challenging mode called True Mode.
In addition to that, we also got the game’s first Invincible boss, Bloomreaper the Invincible, a new mission, a ton of Legendary gear, along with a new UVHM 6 exclusive Firmware drop, the Skillcraft.
So, what is True Mode, and how do you enable it?
True Mode scales up all enemies as if you were playing in a 4-player party, regardless of your current party size. That means your opponents will be tougher to take down, far more numerous, and have more Badass elites among their ranks.
Also, it works independently of Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode, allowing Vault Hunters to have the most control over their difficulty.
You can enable it via the Session Settings.
Bloomreaper the Invincible drops
Here’s a look at the dedicated drops for Bloomreaper the Invincible:
- Rainmaker – Ripper Sniper Rifle (guaranteed drop for Platinum-tier rewards in UVHM)
- Mantra – Maliwan Shotgun
- Undershield – Vladof Shield
- Urchin – Tediore Ordnance (Grenade)
- Jett-Setter – Ripper Ordnance (Heavy Weapon)
- Misericorde – Siren Class Mod (can only drop for Silver-tier or higher rewards in UVHM)
- Overdriver – Exo-Soldier Class Mod (can only drop for Silver-tier or higher rewards in UVHM)
- Trooper – Gravitar Class Mod (can only drop for Silver-tier or higher rewards in UVHM)
- Lamplighter – Forgeknight Class Mod (can only drop for Silver-tier or higher rewards in UVHM)
Lastly, Skillcraft Firmware. Here’s a look at its tier bonuses:
- Tier 1: Skill Damage +10%
- Tier 2: Skill Critical Chance +10%
- Tier 3: Dealing Skill Damage increases Skill Damage Dealt by 2% for 10 seconds. Max 25 Stacks

January 29, 2026 – Photo Mode

On January 29, Gearbox added one of the most-requested features in Borderlands 4. No. Not the shared progression and cross-save. But the Photo Mode.
While many players didn’t care much about Photo Mode, with a few questioning why it wasn’t present at launch, many are having fun with the new Photo Mode. So a great thing for them.
February 26 – Bounty Pack 2: Legend of the Stone Demon and Pearlescent rarity

February 26 marked the release of the game’s second Bounty Pack, “Legend of the Stone Demon,” along with the addition of a new rarity, the Pearlescents.
It also introduced a new activity called Ordonite Processor, which is used to farm the new Pearlescents weapons.
And that is not it; just like the previous Bounty Pack, it came with a new Vault Card, four new rerollable gear, and a ton of new cosmetics to unlock.
The Legend of the Stone Demon was the first great content addition to Borderlands 4 since its launch. The mission and the new dungeon-like area it introduced are big.
In fact, big enough to hold three side bosses, each with dedicated drops, and one main boss, that too, with dedicated drops.
While the content sure is paid, it’s worth the money. If you can get past the fact that among those new bosses, only one was unique, with the rest being a mix of existing bosses and enemies.
So what’s next?

Next, on March 26, we are getting the biggest content drop for Borderlands 4. The game’s first Story Pack: Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned.

It will add:
- New Vault Hunter, C4SH
- New Main Story Missions
- New Activity: The Nightmare Rift
- Underwater Exploration
- Two major boss fights and 16 minibosses
- Returning enemies: DAHL Legion, Kraggons and Scavs
- New Map Zone: Whispering Glacier
- New Side Missions
- Three new Pearlescent weapons
- 10 new Legendary weapons
- 11 new Legendary gear
- 2 Grenades, 2 Heavy Weapons, 2 Shields, and 5 Class Mods

- New Cosmetics
- Two Vault Hunter Heads usable by all Vault Hunters
- Four Vault Hunter Skins usable by all Vault Hunters
- Eight Vault Hunter Heads usable by C4SH
- One alternate Vault Hunter body usable by C4SH
- Four Weapon Skins
- Four Vehicle Skins
- Three ECHO-4 Drone Skins & Attachments
- One ECHO-4 Frame
It will also add Shared Progression across characters, so new characters on the same account will gain access to map progression, SDU tokens, Hover Drives, cosmetic rewards, and activity progression.
- Note: In new playthroughs, some fast-travel locations are locked behind campaign progression.
In addition to all this, it will feature other changes along with the usual weekly reset.
That sums up every major content update for Borderlands 4 since its launch.
