If you want to start doing Blue Ridge Caravan Company’s quests to unlock the new Plans and rewards added with the Milepost Zero update, you must first complete the quest called A Bump in the Road. And while the quest is somewhat easy, there are a few objectives where many players will get stuck, like the “Search Stony Man Lookout.” In the wake of that, I am here with my Fallout 76 A Bump in the Road Milepost Zero quest walkthrough guide.
How to unlock the A Bump in the Road quest?
In Fallout 76, you can unlock A Bump in the Road introductory quest for the Milepost Zero update by being Level 20 or more and entering the Skyline Valley region in the map’s southmost part.
When you enter the region, you will get a pop-up saying: Quest Started “A Bump in the Road.” The quest will then become active, though if it does not appear for you, open your Pip-Boy, head to the Side Quests section, and you will find it.

Follow me through the below objectives, and you will complete A Bump in the Road quest in no time:
Investigate the flare
“Investigate the flare” is the first objective you get as soon as you trigger A Bump in the Road side quest in Fallout 76. To complete this objective, you must head to the Stony Man Lookout POI in the eastern part of the Skyline Valley.
Search Stony Man Lookout
“Search Stony Man Lookout” is the most difficult objective in the entire quest, as many players don’t know what they are searching for.
In this section of the quest, head to the foot of the lookout tower, and there, you will find a cage with a dead person inside.
The person inside is Luke, who is now dead! Search his body and take the ‘Luke’s Holotape’ to continue the quest.

Take Cargo to Milepost Zero
The next objective will take you to the Milepost Zero POI southwest of Skyline Valley. Open your map, teleport to any nearby POI, or walk to the marked location.
Once you arrive there, at the end of the area, you will find a door that leads to the interior of Milepost Zero.

Return the Cargo to the owner
This section of the question is full of dialogue exchanges between you and Marley. To get started, talk to Marley.
Select the dialogue option “Oh no, I don’t work here. I just came to return something.”
After that, select the dialogue “I found some of your cargo.” to complete the objective.
Talk to Marley
While you can select any dialogue that you like as it will eventually lead you to progress the quest, here’s the route that I followed.
Select the dialogue option, “Supermutants got one of your guys up at Stony Man Lookout. Didn’t look like he went peacefully.”
After that, select the option, “Tell me what’s going on, maybe I can help.”
Once you do that, you will get four dialogue options. To progress the quest, you must select “So about that job?” and choose the remaining three options to learn more about the company.
Once you talk to Marley about the job, you will again get a bunch of dialogue options. To continue the quest, select “Let’s get to work.”
Marley will tell you how the company is broke and all that, which is kinda funny. In this part, select “You’re trying to set up a business with no funding?” to progress.
Next, select the option “Is it expensive?”
Now, to start the Caravan business, you must pay 500 Caps. You can do it humbly or be a retard.
In my case, I selected the option “[500 Caps] No problem, happy to help.”
Finally, select the dialogue option “[Start Caravan] Let’s get to it.”
Complete “Caravan: Skyline Drive”
The next objective of the quest requires you to complete the Skyline Drive event, which you can do solo, with friends or random players.
Open your map and head to your Caravan location. It will have your name and will appear with a Brahmin icon.
Defend the Brahmin
In this part, you must guard the Brahmin from waves of enemies. You will also find wood blocking the road that you can attack to remove and continue the escort.
Deposit Cargo in the dropbox
Finally, when you reach the destination, submit the Cargo to complete your Caravan: Skyline Drive event to get Supplies—the new currency required for Milepost Zero-related content.
Return to Marley
Head back to Milepost Zero. You can directly teleport to the interior and talk to Marley to complete the quest and get 100 more Supplies.
