Greeting Agents! The Division 2: Shades of Red is almost over, but before that happens, there’s one new shiny exotic gear to unlock, ‘Provocator.’

The Provocator is a new exotic chest armor that offers significant damage resistance in both PvP and PvE.

So if you’re looking to create tank builds, this is a must-have piece of gear.

This isn’t an Exotic to sleep on.

So without further ado, let me explain how you can get the Provocator Exotic in Division 2.

How to obtain the Provocator Exotic in Division 2

You can get the Provocator in The Division 2 by completing the Shades of the Red Manhunt Climax mission.

Please note that the Provocator Exotic chest armor is a guaranteed drop only when you complete the Manhunt’s Climax mission on the new Master difficulty.

However, to unlock the Master version of this mission, you first have to complete it on the normal difficulty.

Fortunately, the Provocator Exotic chest can drop on lower difficulties.

Though it’s purely RNG, so you may want to start praying to the RNG gods.

Is the Provocator Exotic good?

The Provocator provides a 25% damage resistance buff within 20 meters in PvE.

Whereas it provides a 20% damage resistance buff within 15 meters in PvP.

Ubisoft has previously confirmed the damage resistance to be 35% in PvE.

But it has since been nerfed internally before release.

I don’t think Provocator would be essentially game-changing in PvE unless you’re running a close-quarter Shotgun build which is highly unlikely for most endgame activities like Raid.

However, in PvP, Provocator could turn around a deathly situation with its 20% damage resistance.

While I have yet to test it out myself, this seems like something that could work with any Division 2 PvP build in 2025.

That concludes my guide on how to get the Provocator Exotic in Division 2. If the article helped, please consider buying me a Coffee to help me make more content. You can also share the guide with your friends or leave a comment.
