In Chapter 4 of the Overture DLC, once you arrive at the Fisherman’s Village where the Krat Lighthouse is located, you come across a locked door with a fish icon.
To open the door it requires a Fisherman’s Weathered Key.
As you explore the area, you get a journal talking about a Fisherman named Salao who set out to sea to catch a fish.
The person in the entry, Salao, is an NPC with a relatively short quest that also gives you the key that you require to open the locked room.
So, if you are unable to find the key or Salao to start and complete his quest, keep reading my guide.
How to get the Fisherman’s Weathered Key in Lies of P Overture DLC
You can get the Fisherman’s Weathered Key by completing Salao’s quest.
You learn about Salao by picking up the Mayor’s Journal item in the Fisherman Village where the Krat Lighthouse is located.
It is a simple quest that can you start and complete in no time.
Just follow my below walkthrough!
Lies of P Overture DLC fisherman Salao’s quest walkthrough
To start Salao’s quest, teleport to the Shipwreck Exterior Stargazer.
From there, follow the icy path on the left side.
To ensure you are not confused, I have marked the path in the above screenshot.
As you close in Salao’s location, you will hear him speaking, “O Fish! I have won. I caught you!”
Go near and talk to Salao.
Selecting the last dialogue option, “About anything he needs help with.” will start Salao’s quest.
However, make sure to exhaust all of his dialogue options as Salao’s quest and his story are some of the best ones that I found in the Lies of P base game and the Overture DLC combined.
It’s sad but you learn a great lesson from the old man.
After you exhaust all of his dialogues and agree to help him, he will ask you to find a person and get the beer he holds for Salao.
Old Bottle of Beer location
The Beer Salao is talking about is found within the Krat Lighthouse. Teleport there.
Follow the stairs until you reach the room with the drinks rack as you can see in the above screenshot.
Collect the item and you will get the Old Bottle of Beer.
Head back to Salao
Once you have the beer, head back to Salao and talk to him.
Select the dialogue option, “Hand him the beer.”
Once you do that, you will get two choices to make under a given time:
- Everyone in the village is dead
- Everyone was impressed with your catch
Selecting the latter choice will help you become more human.
After you make your choice, exhaust Salao’s dialogues and he will meet his end at the same spot.
You will get a message saying, “You feel warmth.” confirming that your Humanity level has progressed.
Fisherman’s Weathered Key obtained
After Salao is gone, you will get the Fisherman’s Weathered Key.
Teleport to the Krat Light House and exit it via the stairs.
Follow the path marked in the above screenshot.
Salao’s house is on the left side.
Open his house using the Fisherman’s Weathered Key and collect the item on the bed right next to Salao’s dead wife.
Read the Old Fisherman’s Letter.
Doing so will end Salao’s quest and it will further progress your Humanity level.
