If you are stuck at Dareel’s Research Report side quest as you don’t know how to find and capture Tracktail Lizards in Monster Hunter Wilds, don’t worry! I am here to help you with my guide.

The Tracktail Lizards are one of the many endemic creatures in Monster Hunter Wilds.

While most of the time, you will be capturing these creatures to obtain Points that help you in setting up Pop-up Camps and other things.

When it comes to Tracktail Lizard, it is also associated with a side quest you get from the NPC named Dareel at the Windward Plains base camp.

And while the quest seems simple with the objective being capturing a single Tracktail Lizard, it is not easy at all.

First of all, the main issue that players face in this quest is that they don’t know what the Tracktail Lizard looks like.

The second issue is that, the Windward Plains is a relatively big location and blinding capture creatures won’t help.

Even I wasted hours before I managed to find them and I know, many of you might also get stuck in this quest.

So keep reading my guide as I share the exact locations where you can find the Tracktail Lizards while also explaining how you can capture them.

I also share how you can unlock and take on the quest.

How to unlock Dareel’s Research Report quest

In Monster Hunter Wilds, you can unlock Dareel’s Research Request quest by progressing the main story until Chapters 1 – 4 “A Hunter’s Pride.”

Once you are past it, you will have access to a variety of side quests.

One of them being Dareel’s Research Request.

To get the quest, head to the main tent at the Windward Plains base camp.

Inside it, you will find Dareel.

Talk to him and exhaust his dialogues to get the quest.

Once you have the quest, make it active via the Mission Info menu.

Monster Hunter Wilds Tracktail Lizard spawn locations

The best location where you can find Tracktail Lizards is Area 11 in the Windward Plains.

Head to the above-marked location and within the dunes, you will find the Tracktail Lizards.

As you can see in the above screenshot, they are small yet hard to miss as they are surrounded by sand.

Once you spot them, open your Item Pouch.

  • On PS5, press the L1 button
  • On Xbox, press the LB button

After that, you can navigate through the items to select the Capture Net.

Once you have it selected, press the button that appears on its icon at the bottom right side to make it active.

Now, aim and shoot the Capture Net to capture the Tracktail Lizards.

Right near the cave entrance, you will find a few Tracktail Lizards.

Similar to before, aim and throw the Capture Net.
