Whether you are looking for the location of the Gloombound Flame, its use, or want to know how to switch to nighttime in Mortal Shell 2, I’ve got you covered with this guide.
For players who don’t know, Mortal Shell 2 lets you lower or increase the game’s difficulty using certain items and NPCs.
While the Slayer Seal can be equipped to lower difficulty, players can use the Gloombound Flame to summon an NPC who can switch the time of the game to nighttime.
When it’s night, the game’s difficulty increases, there are more mob spawns, there are certain puzzles you can solve only during night, like the one at Mushroom Village, and so on.
In the wake of that, I prepared this guide covering the location of the Gloombound Flame and where to use it to summon the NPC who allows you to switch to nighttime.
Gloombound Flame location

In Mortal Shell 2, you can find the Gloombound Flame in the Great Arbiter of Flesh’s boss arena located near the Widow’s Overlook beacon. Teleport there.

Make your way towards the boss.

You can either defeat him or just run past him to the altar holding the Gloombound Flame.

Collect the Gloombound Flame.
Where to use Gloombound Flame

You can use the Gloombound Flame at the top of The Marrow Keep.

Head to The Marrow Keep and make your way to the lift.

Take it to reach the top.

Turn right, and you will spot a Lantern.

Light the Extinguished Lantern.

Doing so will consume the Gloombound Flame.

Once done, wait until the NPC spawns.
How to change to Night Time

After you light the Extinguished Lantern, Thestus will spawn and start talking to you.

Keep talking until you exhaust his dialogue.

Once you do that, speak to him again.

This time around, he will offer you the option to “Call Forth The Night.”
Select ‘Yes’ to change the game’s time to nighttime and increase the difficulty. Select ‘No’ if you don’t want to do it.
You can come back to Thestus whenever you want to increase the difficulty or want to change to nighttime to solve any associated puzzle.
