Base building is one of the staple features of Once Human, and with The Way of Winter finally giving players access to the snowy and volcanic regions, there are many new options for base building.

While players can build their base at any spot, granted it is not within the boundaries of any settlement or on the road, finding the right spot matters a lot.

Having your base built at some good spots has many strategic benefits.

You have easy access to many resources; you can easily farm end-game materials, use your base as teleport points to access areas with no nearby Teleportation Tower, and the list goes on.

Best base locations in Once Human The Way of Winter

Here are the best locations in the new regions where you can build your base:

West of Whalebone

The area west of Whalebone in the Vena Fjord is one of the best locations for building your base.

Here are some key highlights of the locations:

1. Easy access to Cold Crystal Ores
2. A ton of Sulphur and Iron Ore nodes
3. All minerals in one spot
4. Access to seawater to make Salt
5. Access to new plants such as Spikemato and others
6. Less prone to die from cold

Greenfield

The Greenfield is one of the best locations to build your base if you don’t want to worry about Hypothermia and want to farm a ton of different hides and meat.

I currently have my base temporarily at the Greenfield as the area spawns all kinds of animals that you can hunt down to get skins, hides and meat.

The same location spawns boar, elk, buffalo, rabbits, and other animals, making it the best spot for farming hides and crafting Leftovers.

Here are some key highlights:

1. Easy access to Iron, Copper, and Tin Ore nodes
2. Offers Aluminium and Tungsten Ore nodes but not in high number
3. There is more chance to spawn a Silver Ore node
4. Very high wildlife spawn
5. Very high new plants spawn
6. Ideal temperature

East of Abandoned Farm

East of the Abandoned Farm in the Vena Fjord region, you will find a Pollution Zone with the best spot to build a base for Acid Farm.

The small circle and the player icon location show the ideal spot to build your base, as it gives you access to polluted water, Startrace Ores, and other things.

Meanwhile, the bigger circles are the areas where almost all types of plants and ore nodes spawn.

Note: The island in front of the marked area is also an excellent pollution zone to build your base.

Here are some key highlights of the area:

1. Access to polluted water
2. Access to seawater for Salt
3. Pollution Zone for easy electricity
4. Very high Startrace Ore spawn
5. A nearby location rich with early to late-game Ore nodes and plants
6. No issue of Hypothermia
7. Wildlife spawn
