Path of Exile 2, aka PoE 2, is finally approaching its early access release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X | S, and with that, players have many questions—such as the game’s release date, unlock time, download size, preload date and time, system requirements, and more.
For players who don’t know, Path of Exile 2 was initially announced in 2019 as a seven-act storyline sharing the same endgame as the first.
However, in 2023, the devs changed the entire release plan as the game was no longer directly associated with Path of Exile.
Instead, Path of Exile 2 was now a separate standalone game with unique mechanics, features, and content, with some shared features like cosmetic purchases.
Fast-forward to today.
Developer Grinding Gear Games released a Path of Exile 2 end-game video on November 22, 2024, sharing an in-depth look at the game.
Making it clearer to players that Path of Exile 2 is an entirely new experience.
The video not only ignited the hype for the game but also got the attention of most ARPG fans, especially those who are not so happy with Blizzard’s Diablo 4.

Path of Exile 2 release date, time, countdown, and platforms
Path of Exile 2 will officially release in early access on December 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. PST.
As I mentioned earlier, the game is coming to PC, Xbox Series X | S, and PlayStation 5 platforms.
Now! If you have been following the game, you may also know that Path of Exile 2 was going to get a macOS release.
Well! Path of Exile 2 early access is not coming to macOS soon!
Thankfully, though, the developers have assured us they will work on bringing early access to MacOS as soon as possible.

Path of Exile 2 download size and preload details
Path of Exile 2 will take around 100 GB of space on PC and consoles.
Thankfully, unlike games like Stalker 2, you will be able to preload Path of Exile 2 a few days ahead of the early access launch.
At the moment, the exact preload schedule has not yet been shared by developers Grinding Gear Games.
