If you cannot decide which starting class in Path of Exile 2 will be the best for you, I am here to help with this guide.
Path of Exile 2 features twelve classes with unique skills and ascendancies that further define the class.
Of the twelve classes, only six are available during the game’s early access.
Still, selecting a starting class for your first playthrough can be a little confusing.
As with any other ARPG, Path of Exile 2 classes may feel off in the early game.
But later, once you unlock new active and passive skills, they are different and tailored towards particular playstyles.
This is what I will be talking about mainly, as choosing the suitable class in Path of Exile 2 is nothing but choosing the class that you will enjoy the most.
So, without any further ado, let us check out the best class for starting in Path of Exile 2.
Which class should you play as in Path of Exile 2?

First of all, thanks to the new Skill Gems system, in Path of Exile 2, you can use various active and passive skills irrespective of the class.
This is further bolstered by the fact that you can equip any weapon and even dual-specialize your passive skills to benefit from both weapons.

For instance, even if you take the Warrior Class, you can use other classes’ active and passive skills with some limitations, such as the ascendancies.
Think of it as somewhat similar to games like Throne and Liberty, New World, Albion Online, and others, but with much more flexibility.
I know these can be some poor comparisons, but they are similar regarding class flexibility.
So, the big question? Which class should you play as in Path of Exile 2 early access?

If you like to play as a Tank who can deal damage while taking on enemies up front, The Warrior class is best for you.

For players who like top-down shooters and are OK with starting slow with a class with infuriating limitations but with a very high DPS and glass canon build potential, the Mercenary class is for you.

For players who like mobility over the defense and like to move around the battlefield, dealing massive damage to enemies, The Ranger is the best class for you.

Now, if you are like me, who needs both mobility and cool-looking skills with massive AoE DMG capability for farming mobs, single-target attacks for bosses, and so on, the Sorceress and the Witch classes are best for you.

The Monk is for anyone who likes to play as a melee brawler, building up momentum and dealing massive damage while having excellent mobility to run around the battlefield, unleashing heavy, high-damage-dealing attacks.
Lastly, I would like to say that you should definitely try out the different classes and play only the ones that you have the most fun with.

Ultimately, Path of Exile 2 is a game you should have fun in!
For example, I will be playing as the Sorceress or the Witch.
Reason? Both are hot and have some of the best skills and ascendancies among all classes.
