Whether you are unable to charge Pylons or are stuck at any point in the Charge main quest, my Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate Charge mission walkthrough is all you need.

Charge is the final main quest in The Outer Steppes Strangelet questline in The Edge of Fate DLC.

During the mission, players are required to Charge Pylons multiple times and activate three Generators.

Only then can players activate the Reactor and obtain the Strangelet Capsule required for progressing the DLC’s main storyline.

But as simple as the quest sounds, during the Charge mission, many players get stuck in the Charge Pylons section, and a few in some other sections.

So, as your trusty Guides writer, I am here with a full walkthrough of the Charge main quest in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate DLC.

How to start the Charge mission in The Edge of Fate DLC

To start the Charge main quest in Destiny 2, progress The Outer Steppes Strangelet quest until Step 6.

Once that is done, look on the far left side of the room where you speak to the Dr. NPC.

Use the Matter Realignment on the wall.

Doing so will open the path. Make sure you have marked the quest on map.

Once done, follow the marker.

You will once more have to use the Matter Realignment ability to open the path leading to the quest.

Once you arrive at the quest location, you can interact with it to start the Charge quest.

The Edge of Fate DLC Charge mission full walkthrough

Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate DLC’s Charge mission is a big one with multiple steps, with three of the sections where players often get stuck.

Here are all the objectives in the mission:

  1. Find the Reactor
  2. Charge Pylons (0/2)
  3. Activate the Reactor
  4. Find the Generator
  5. Charge Pylons – Pylons Charged (0/2)
  6. Activate the Generator
  7. Return to Reactor
  8. Eliminate Master Technician
  9. Activate Reactor
  10. Locate the Second Generator
  11. Charge Pylons – Pylons Charged (0/2)
  12. Activate the Second Generator
  13. Locate the Final Generator
  14. Charge Pylons – Pylons Charged (0/2)
  15. Activate Final Generator
  16. Return to the Reactor
  17. Eliminate Master Technician
  18. Activate Reactor
  19. Collect the Strangelet Capsule

Now that you know all the steps involved in the Charge main quest, here’s how to complete them.

Find the Reactor

Follow the quest marker to reach the main Reactor area.

Charge Pylons (0/2)

Once you arrive there, you will be tasked to charge two Pylons.

I have marked the Pylons’ location in the above screenshot.

Use the nearby Matterspark ability activator to change into Matterspark form.

Head to the first Pylon and charge it.

Now, head to the second Pylon and charge it.

Activate the Reactor

Now, interact with the console at the center to activate the reactor.

Locate Generator

You won’t be able to activate the Reactor as you will first have to find and activate three generators.

Go through the door located at the northern end of the room, in the middle.

Follow the quest marker to the first generator’s location.

Charge Pylons – Pylons Charged (0/2)

Once you are in the first generator’s room, you will once again get the objective to charge two Pylons.

Defeat the Resolute Captain and head to the other side of the room.

You will find a Matterspark Activator.

Change into the Matterspark form and go through the tunnel near the slope area close to the Matterspark Activator.

Charge the first Pylon and exit.

For the second Pylon, you must use the equipments to get to the vents and use it to travel to it.

Change into the Matterspark form and go through the vents.

Charge the second Pylon.

Activate the Generator

Now, exit the Pylon room.

Head to the area where you defeated the elite Captain enemy, you will find the console that you can use to activate the generator.

Return to Reactor

Now, follow the quest marker back to the reactor.

Once you arrive, the boss, Master Technician, aka Reactor Saboteur, will spawn.

Eliminate Master Technician

Take out the boss’s first health layer, and he will run away.

Activate Reactor

Once again, interact with the console in the middle to activate the Reactor.

[As I said, you need two more generators to activate before you can activate the Reactor.]

Locate the Second Generator

Follow the quest marker to the second generator’s location.

On your way, you will find a simple puzzle. Use the Matter Realignment.

Shoot it on the rocks as you see in the above screenshot.

Now, pick up the Relocator Cannon, jump on the rocks now serving as a platform, and shoot the antenna to open the nearby portal.

Take the portal and go through the white gate.

Charge Pylons – Pylons Charged (0/2)

You will arrive at the second generator’s location. But first, you must charge two Pylons.

The problem is, there’s a barrier on top of them.

To remove the barrier, take out the Brig enemy.

Once done, change into the Matterspark form and head to the Pylon location.

Charge the first Pylon.

As soon as you charge the Pylon, a bunch of enemies will spawn, along with another Brig.

Take him out to remove the barrier from the second Pylon.

Change into Matterspark form and charge the second Pylon.

Activate Second Generator

Head to the first Pylon location and interact with the console to activate the second generator.

Locate the Final Generator

Collect the rewards and follow the quest marker to the third and final generator’s location.

You will have to use the Matter Realignment ability to align the platform to reach its location.

But it’s easy and there’s no way, you will get lost.

Charge Pylons – Pylons Charged (0/2)

Once you arrive at the final generator’s location, you will once again have to charge two Pylons.

Take out the Elite enemy to get an Arc Charge Orb.

Now, interact with the Matter Realignment to get the ability.

Once you have it, shoot at the glowing rocks on the right side of the building at the center.

Make your way towards the end of the rock and use the Arc Charge Orb to activate the mechanism to remove the barrier from the first Pylon.

Change into Matterspark form and make your way towards the edge, through the room, and charge the Pylon.

For the second Pylon, first, shoot the antenna marked in the above screenshot such that it points towards the antenna below it.

Once done, you must use Matter Realignment to shoot the delipidated structure as you see in the above screenshot.

But don’t do it right now.

Instead, head inside the building in the middle and collect the Relocator Cannon.

Shoot the antenna in the room.

Activate the Matter Realignment ability, shoot the structure that I talked about earlier with it, and take the portal marked in the above screenshot.

Quickly, change into Matterspark form and take the tunnel.

Charge the second Pylon.

Activate Final Generator

Follow the same path to go back to the room from which you came.

Interact with the lever to disable the Laser Grid.

Head to the final generator’s console and activate it.

Return to the Reactor

Now, follow the quest marker back to the Reactor area.

Eliminate Master Technician

Remember the boss, Reactor Saboteur, who ran away? Well! He’s back now.

The boss will have two more layers of health.

When you lower each layer, you will have to take down his shields.

First half – boss fight

First, make your way towards the left side of the arena and take out the Overburdened Keeper.

He will drop an Arc Charge. Pick it up and make your way towards the other side of the arena.

Use the Matter Realignment and shoot the glowing structure on the wall.

Climb it and make your way towards the end.

Activate the mechanism to remove the boss’s shields.

Boss fight – second phase

Once you manage to bring down the boss’s health level to the last layer, the shields will be back.

And, this time around, you will have to activate two mechanisms.

Take out the two Overburdened Keeper elites to get the Arc Charges.

I recommend taking out all regular enemies too, as they are a nuisance, especially when you are playing on higher difficulties.

Now, collect the Arc Charge and use the Matter Realignment ability on the glowing structure on the far right end of the arena.

Climb it and activate the mechanism using the Arc Charge.

Now, make your way to the far left side of the arena and use the Matter Realignment on the second glowing structure.

Make sure you have the second Arc Charge on you.

Climb up the platform, head to the second mechanism, and activate it.

That’s it. The shield is gone! Defeat the boss.

Activate Reactor

Now, interact with the console in the middle to activate the Reactor.

Pick up the Strangelet Capsule

Collect the Strangelet Capsule and that’s it.

The quest will end.

I hope this was helpful!
