Whether you are looking to get your hands on the legendary Granite Maul hammer or just want to unlock and explore the Vault found in Ashien’s Watch, my RuneScape Dragonwilds Granite Mauled quest walkthrough covers it all.
For players who don’t know, Granite Mauled is one of the many side quests in the game.
And, similar to Heartstrings and Highlighting the Problem quests, completing the quest unlocks one of the Masterwork weapon’s recipe.
To be precise, it unlocks the recipe for crafting the Granite Maul hammer.
While I am not a big fan of the Granite Maul hammer, I know many of you Strength build lovers would really like to use it as your primary.
And if not, you should still know how to complete the Granite Mauled side quest.
So, keep reading as I covering everything on the quest in this guide.
From how to trigger the Granite Mauled quest to how you can complete it and craft the Granite Maul.
How to trigger Granite Mauled side quest in RuneScape Dragonwilds
To start the Granite Mauled side quest in the game, you must talk to the Dwarf named Doric.
You can find him at a camp located in the northeast part of the Fractured Plains region at the above marked location.
Head there and talk to Doric and exhaust his dialogues.
Doing so will unlock the Granite Mauled side quest and will make it active.
Granite Mauled side quest walkthrough
The Granite Mauled side quest in RuneScape Dragonwilds has two main objectives. These are:
- Investigate the secrets hidden below Ashien’s Watch.
- Bring the blueprint back to Doric at Ashien’s Watch.
While the above two quest objectives are located close to Doric’s location, I recommend getting geared up with a long range weapon or whatever you prefer and heals and such things.
Why?
Because the first objective requires you to explore the nearby locked Vault filled with high level guardians.
On the same note, to reach the vault, you must go through a goblin encampment filled with high level enemies.
Assuming you are prepared, to make things easier for you, I have explained how you can complete both objectives and complete the quest below:
Investigate the secrets hidden below Ashien’s Watch.
To investigate the secret hidden below Ashien’s Watch, you must head to the marked location to find an inactive Vault’s entrance.
From Doric’s location, jump down the elevated path and follow the broken bridge.
To get past, you can use the Windstep skill.
On the other side, you will find a ton of Garou troops along with an elite enemy.
There’s also a Garou Druid that I recommend taking out first as he becomes a nuisance.
Also, you should not run past the enemies as the next step requires you to explore the same encampment.
Once you have taken out the enemy, head to the above marked location to find the Vault.
As you can see, the Vault is locked and to enter, you must light up four Dragonkin Obelisks.

You can find all four Dragonkin Obelisks in the same Garou encampment that you cleared earlier.
Dragonkin statue 1 location
The first Dragonkin Obelisk is located at the above marked location near the Vault.
Head there and you will find it close to the broken wall.
Interact with it to light up the Obelisk.

The second obelisk is located south of the first obelisk at the above marked location.
As you can see, it is on the first floor of the delipidated building.
Head there and interact with it to light it up.
Dragonkin statue 3 location
The third obelisk is located at the above marked location.
From the second Dragonkin Obelisk, look on the left side and you will spot the third one.
Head there and interact with it to light it up.

The last obelisk is located near to the third one at the above marked location.
Interact with it. Once you activate all four Dragonkin Obelisks, you will get a message saying some kind of seal is broken.
Return to Vault
Head back to the Vault and enter it.
The quest objective is in the locked room on the right near the entrance.
But just like any other Vault, to access it, you must pull the level located on the left side behind the locked door.
Progress through the Vault and be wary of the spike plants that you can destroy using long range attacks to be on the safe side.
Secondly, as I told, you must be prepared as there are a ton of enemies.
Apart from that, I explore every corner of the Vault for the sake of the guide and there’s no way, you will be lost.
So, just keep progressing until you arrive in the room with the lever.
Activate the lever and take the path on the left side.
There are two Vault bosses that you will encounter. These are:
- Vault Overlord
- Vault Archon
Use a bow to aggro the Vault Overlord and cheese him from the broken bridge.
Enter the room and defeat the Vault Archon.
Now, make your way to the Dragonkin Obelisk with the blue light near the Vault Core.
Interact with the obelisk to complete the quest objective, “Investigate the secrets hidden below Ashien’s Watch.”
Collect everything in the room. The Vault Core, the items from the chest and exit.
Bring the blueprint back to Doric at Ashien’s Watch
Head back to Doric’s camp and talk to him.
Doing so will complete the Granite Mauled side quest.
RuneScape Dragonwilds Granite Mauled quest rewards
As I mentioned earlier, completing the Granite Mauled quest unlocks the crafting recipe for the Granite Maul hammer.
How to craft the Granite Maul hammer in RuneScape Dragonwilds
To craft the Granite Maul hammer, make sure you have the Smithing Anvil.
If you don’t, just make a Bronze Bar and you will unlock its recipe.
That said, interact with the Anvil and look in the Masterwork Components section.
Unlike other Masterworks weapons, the Granite Maul has three components that you must craft.
These are:
- Imbued Granite Maul Head
- Granite x10
- Wild Anima x4
- Vault Shard x6
- Ornate Maul Handle
- Blightwood x7
- Silver Bar x5
- Bronze Bar x5
- Vault Shard x3
- Imbued Leather Wrappings
- Dire Wolf Leather x1
- Anima Infused Bark x5
- Vault Shard x3
Once you have crafted all three components, head back to the Smithing Anvil and select the Granite Maul from the Masterworks section.
Assuming you have eight Vault Shards and one Vault Core, you will will able to assemble the parts and craft the Granite Maul.
