If you want to get your hands on the legendary Crystal Bow, you must know how to get and complete the Heartstrings side quest in RuneScape Dragonwilds. This is where my guide comes in handy.
For players who don’t know, just like the Staff of Light, Abyssal Whip, Anti Dragon Shield and others, the Crystal Bow is one of the many Masterworks in the game.
It is a Power Level 3 bow with that comes with not only great stats but also a special skill called Shattershot.
Moreover, it is also one of the best, if not the best bows in the game that players can use for Ranger builds.
However, getting your hands on the Crystal Bow is not easy!
You must complete a hidden side quest called Heartstrings that may sound easy once you know what you have to do, but it is not.
Trust me! It is the most awfully difficult quest that took me hours to complete just so that I can work on this guide.
With that said, here’s my walkthrough for Heartstrings side quest. I hope it helps!
How to get the Heartstrings quest in RuneScape Dragonwilds
To trigger the Heartstrings quest, you must interact with the gravesite at the big blue tree found at the top of the peak at the above marked location in Fractured Plains region.
First of all, make your way to the above location.
To reach there, you must build some platforms and stairs as there’s no other path.
Once you are at the top, make your way towards the big blue tree.
Right next to it, you will find an elven grave that you can interact with.
Do it and exhaust the dialogues. Once done, the Heartstrings quest will become active.
Heartstrings side quest complete walkthrough
The Heartstrings quest has only one main objective. This is:
- Follow the memorial path, look for blue trees heading towards the east of Ghormfell and the memorial markers.
- Follow an elven bard’s trail of memory and discover a harmonious weapon.
To complete the quest, you must find and interact with the graves found at the foot the giant blue trees in a given order.
In total, there are seven graves and seven blue trees, including the one that you interact with to trigger the quest.
If you die without interacting with all the graves in the above given order, you must start again from the first tree.
Else the quest will not progress and complete.
All blue tree and memorial locations in RuneScape Dragonwilds
Here is the precise location of all seven blue trees and the elven memorial sites in the game:
Blue tree 1 location
The first memorial is where you start the quest.
Blue tree 2 location
From the first memorial, make your way towards east, at the above marked location.
You will find the giant tree on the elevated area.
Go near it and interact with the memorial.
Exhaust all dialogues and proceed to the next tree’s location.
Tips: I recommend collecting the Anima-Infused Bark around the blue trees as you need it to craft high level gear, including the Crystal Bow.
Blue tree 3 location
The third tree is east of the second tree. At the above marked location.
From the second tree, follow the main path and you will easily spot it.
Go near the blue tree and interact with the memorial.
Exhaust all dialogues and proceed to the next tree’s location.
Blue tree 4 location
The fourth blue tree and the memorial is found at the above marked location.
Head there and ensure there are no enemies nearby.
Interact with the memorial and exhaust all the dialogues.
Blue tree 5 location
Move to the fifth blue tree that you can find at the above marked location.
It is within a delipidated structure guarded by one Shaman and two Berserkers.
Either take them out or distract them and interact with the memorial.
Exhaust all dialogues and proceed further to the next tree’s location.
Blue tree 6 location
The sixth blue tree and memorial is found north of the fifth tree at the above marked location.
Similar to before, interact with the memorial and exhaust all dialogues.
Blue tree 7 location
The seventh and last blue tree is northwest of the sixth blue tree at the above marked location.
Head there and you will see this tree is unlike other ones.
Interact with the memorial to get two options:
- Sing the bard’s song of remembrance.
- Step away
Select the first option.
If you have followed the guide so far and interacted with the memorials in the given order, the quest will complete.
RuneScape Dragonwilds Heartstrings quest rewards
You get the Crystal Bow and the crafting recipe for it upon completing the Heartstrings quest.
While you can use the one that you get from the quest, in case you want to craft additional, you need the following items:
- Opal x18
- Wool Thread x4
- Bronze Bar x4
- Anima-Infused Bark x4
- Vault Shard x8
- Vault Core x1
Once you have all the materials, head to the Smithing Anvil and craft the Crystal Bow.
