Red Moon Rising is a brand-new event in The Division 2 that brings new mechanics to the PvE Dark Zone, along with new enemies, Exotics and a new Recruiter Mask you can earn from the event.
While you can easily start the event, many players don’t understand how the Red Moon stacks work.
Or how to spawn the named enemies like the Phoebe Marauder or the Recruiter and so on. With that in mind, I put together this event guide covering everything you need to know about the Red Moon Rising event.

To access the Red Moon Rising event, head to the PvE Dark Zone where the event is active.
The location rotates between PvE Dark Zones,but since the event name appears in the Dark Zone (as shown in the marked screenshot above), spotting and accessing it is not difficult.
Once you are inside, head to the Landmarks and clear them. Your goal in this event is to defeat XB-35 “Phoebe” Marauder for the new Exotics and other loot, and The Recruiter for the new Mask.
The XB-35 “Phoebe” Marauder spawns every 60 minutes, and there’s a way to speed that up. I have shared it below. For now, let’s continue with the flow of the event.
Head to each Landmark and clear them.
Once you get the XB-35 “Phoebe” Marauder notification, the boss will be marked with a blue skull icon, as shown in the screenshot above.
Head there and defeat the boss. Be quick, as other players might defeat it before you arrive.
After defeating the XB-35 “Phoebe” Marauder, collect the drops and head to any extraction site.
To call an extraction, you need an item called Stabilization Agent that you can get from elites as a drop while clearing the Landmarks.
When you call the extraction, your comms and everything will be jammed. That’s because the Recruiter spawns and attacks you whenever you call an exfil.
Defeat the Recruiter and deposit the loot.
Repeat.

- Clear the Landmarks to collect Stabilizing Agent while reducing the time to spawn XB-35 “Phoebe” Marauder
- Defeat the XB-35 “Phoebe” Marauder
- Call an Exfil
- Defeat The Recruiter
- Submit Loot
- Repeat
How do Red Moon stacks work?
Red Moon stacks are a typical buff + debuff mechanic that activates once you enter the Dark Zone during the Red Moon Rising event.
They build up automatically, and the higher they are, the more buffs and debuffs they apply to your character.
Here’s how the stack works:
- Red Moon stacks start accumulating when you start your run and last until the end.
- When you die, the Red Moon stacks reset to 0.
- When you leave the Dark Zone, the Red Moon stacks reset to 0.
- When you secure a Contaminated Loot, the Red Moon stacks reset to 0.
- While inside the Safehouses, you can pause Red Moon stack accumulation until you step back into the Dark Zone.
How to spawn XB-35 “Phoebe” Marauder in the Red Moon Rising event
The XB-35 “Phoebe” Marauder automatically spawns every 60 minutes while you are inside the PvE Dark Zone with the Red Moon Rising event.
You can reduce that timer by clearing a Landmark within the Dark Zone.
Each Landmark you clear reduces the timer by 20%, so after you clear five Landmarks, you can instantly spawn the XB-35 “Phoebe” Marauder.
Though during my runs, by the time I cleared four Landmarks, the XB-35 “Phoebe” Marauder spawned.
How to spawn the Recruiter in Red Moon Rising
You can spawn the Recruiter to farm the Recruiter Mask by calling an exfil in a PvE Dark Zone during the Red Moon Rising event.
