Beginning of Misfortune is one of the two Exploration-type Codex quests in the Ants Nest area, the other being the Mutant Ant Counterattack.
In this quest, players are tasked to find and defeat two elite boss-type Ants, the Honeypot Ant and the Giant Acid Ant.
The third objective is to find and collect a page from the Collection: Expedition Records: Ant Nest.
Unlike most of the Exploration quests in the game, all three objectives in Beginning of Misfortune are hard to complete if players don’t know where to look.
The entire area is full of a variety of Ant enemies with both long and close-range attacks.
Seeing to make things easier for you, I prepared this detailed walkthrough guide covering how to get and complete the Beginning of Misfortune quest in Throne and Liberty.

How to unlock the Beginning of Misfortune quest in Throne and Liberty
In Throne and Liberty, you can unlock the Beginning of Misfortune quest by entering the Ant Next cavern.
Once you do that, the quest will appear under the Codex > Exploration > Stonegard > Ant Nest section.
However, to take the quest and complete its objectives, you must meet the level requirement, which is level 27.
Assuming you meet the two requirements, you can make the quest active via the Codex and start completing its objectives.
Beginning of Misfortune quest walkthrough
As I mentioned, the Beginning of Misfortune Codex quest in Throne and Liberty has three objectives you must complete. These are:
- Collect a page from Collection: Expedition Records: Ant Nest (0/1)
- Defeat Honeypot Ant (0/1)
- Defeat Giant Acid Ant (0/1)
Before I talk about how you can complete each section, let me tell you that even though the quest is unlocked at level 27, you must be at least level 35 or above to consider doing it.
Why, you may ask? Because every enemy you find inside is between level 35 and 39, and at level 27, you will miss all the attacks.
Moreover, a few hits from the regular Ants can kill you.
With that being out of the way, here’s how to complete each section of the Beginning of Misfortune quest in Throne and Liberty.

Collect a page from Collection: Expedition Records: Ant Nest
You can find the page from the Collection: Expedition Records: Ant Nest in the pit near the Food Storage.
Head to the player icon location as shown in the map below screenshot, and you will find the page:
Once you arrive, drop down and interact with the page to complete the objective.

Honeypot Ant location
The Honeypot Ant is an elite enemy who does not reveal itself and hides himself below its honeypot.
Head to the southern part of the Ant Nest and look for the yellow glowing sacks.
You can find these south of Spawning Ground and Central Plaza. Defeat the nearby Ants to make the Honeypot Ant appear.

Remember, there are multiple locations within the Ant Nest apart from the above one where you can find the Honeypot Ant.
Giant Acid Ant location
The Giant Acid Ant is yet another elite enemy within the Ant Nest you can find in the southeast.

Two of them spawn nearby, and if you are unable to find them, I recommend waiting for a few minutes in the nearby pit, and they will spawn.
