The rise of Sam Winkler!

Forgive Me is a hidden side quest in Borderlands 4 and an easter egg to the game’s Narrative Director’s comment on the Souls games he made back in 2022.

While the quest rewards are not that great, how the entire quest plays out is an interesting one and offers a great easter egg experience.

Moreover, for completionists, to get the Grassroots Campaigner trophy, they must complete all side quests, including the hidden ones like Forgive Me.

And since I was getting bored, I thought, why not prepare a walkthrough for the quest for players who haven’t yet completed it. So, here I am.

Borderlands 4 Forgive Me quest walkthrough

The quest marker for the Forgive Me quest doesn’t appear on the map. Why? Because it is a hidden quest. Didn’t I tell you earlier.

Head to the above marked location in the Cuspid Climb sub region of the Terminus Range region.

The nearest Fast Travel point is The Reliquary Order Silo.

Teleport there and make your way to the marked location.

Once you arrive there, you will find a giant skeleton at a cave’s entrance near the waterfall. Head inside the cave.

Once you are inside, a Psycho will spawn. Defeat him.

Doing so will drop the quest item “Desecrated Bolt.” Pick up the item to trigger the Forgive Me hidden quest.

Find Zanzibart’s final resting place

The first quest objective is to find “Zanzibart’s final resting place.” The difficult part?

Unlike most, or I should say, almost every quest, where we have a quest marker leading to the object, there is none for this one. Nor do we get a search area.

Afterall, it is an easter egg related to Sam’s comment about souls games, which do not have any quest marker.

To make things easier for you, I have marked the entrance to Zanzibart’s final resting place in the above map screenshot.

The nearest Fast Travel point is Snowy Wells Safehouse. Teleport there and make your way to the marked location.

Defeat the enemies in the area or simply run towards the cliff.

Glide to the cave’s entrance.

Head inside and make your way to the campfire in the middle.

Interact with the campfire to “Lay Zanzibart’s bolt to rest.”

Once you do that, a named enemy “Cursed Myrmidon of the Cruel Dawn” will spawn.

Defeat him.

After that, an NPC named Vycarias, the Lore-Singer will spawn and start yapping.

PRO TIP: Go do some left chores. Spend a few minutes with your kids or loved ones, or do some work as he will keep telling you about Zanzibart’s lore for a full 9 to 10 minutes.

There’s a dummy nearby for you to shoot and test out some builds during that time as you cannot skip through his dialogues.

Once here is done speaking, the quest will end, rewarding you the usual Experience (XP), Cash, and Eridium.

Here’s a video version of the guide for the Forgive Me quest by me, in case, you are still stuck at any point:
