Mystery Bone is a crafting and upgrade material in Monster Hunter Wilds that players need mainly during the early game.
You mainly need it to craft the Bone series weapons and armor.
That said, while the respective gear does show how many Mystery Bones you need to craft it, you don’t get any exact details on how to obtain it.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, you can get Mystery Bones by searching Bonepiles found in the Windward Plains and Scarlet Forest regions.

There’s also a chance to obtain them from Bonepiles found in the Oilwel Basin region and others.
The most consistent spawn for Mystery Bones is the starting region, Windward Plains.
Why?
Because in the higher regions, the drop rate of higher variants like Sturdy Bones, Quality Bones, etc increases.
Alternatively, you can also get Mystery Bone as a drop loot from small monsters like Rafma and Bulaqchi.
The Bulaqchi are found in the Plains area whereas the Rafma roam around the Cliffs.

Best farming spots for Mystery Bone
The best farming for Mystery Bone is in the Windward Plains region.
I have shared their detailed location below:
Windward Plains Area 1
Area 1 holds two Bonepile locations and it is near the Windward Plains base camp.
So, teleport to the base camp and head to the marked location.
Once you arrive there, drop down in the nest-like area with bones and you will find two Bonepiles.
There are also a few Bulaqchi that I recommend hunting down for a chance to get some extra Mystery Bones.
Once you search the two Bonepiles, head to the next location.
Note
There is also an Ancient Wyvern Coin in the area that you can collect for Points.
Windward Plains Area 9
Similar to Area 1, Area 9 in the Windward Plains also holds two Bonepiles.
Head to the above marked location and you will arrive at a dead end with two Bonepiles and other resources.
Search the Bonepiles to collect the Mystery Bones.
Windward Plains Area 10
The third location is the monster nest found in Area 10 of the Windward Plains.
Head to the marked location and inside the monster nest.
You will find two Bonepiles. Search them to collect Mystery Bones.
Windward Plains Area 16
Area 16 also holds two Bonepiles and two Ancient Fossils.
The latter can be collected for Points.
Head to the marked locations and you will find a Bonepile near a Pop-up Camp location.
The second Bonepile is near the ledge as you can see in the above screenshot.
