Whether you are playing as a mage or any other class character, the Frostcrag Spire is one of the best housings in Oblivion Remastered that you can unlock by following a short side quest. And if you don’t know about it, I’ve got you covered.
The Frostcrag Spire stands at the tallest peak in Cyrodiil that you can use as housing.
For mage-type characters, it is the best house they can get as it gives them access to all portals that lead to the interior of the different Mage Guilds and the Arcane University.
It also comes with different rooms and upgrade stations along with a full-fledged garden with rare flora and an altar that players can use to summon an Atronach companion.
Overall, if you ask me, it is the best housing that players should be using as their main base.
Keeping that in mind, I prepared this detailed guide sharing the Frostcrag Spire’s location while walking you through the side quest that triggers when you enter the area.
I also share details on where you can get all the upgrades for the Frostcrag Spire in Oblivion Remastered. So keep reading!
Oblivion Remastered Frostcrag Spire location

You can find the Frostcrag Spire housing in the northern part of the map at the above-marked location.

Teleport to nearby POIs and make your way your way to the marked location, uphill and you will spot the Frostcrag Spire.
It is after all the highest point in the game.

Oblivion Remastered Frostcrag Spire quest walkthrough

To start the Frostcrag Spire side quest in the game, all you must do is go near the main entrance of the building.
The quest will automatically pop up, asking if you want to “Make this my active quest” or “Continue.”
Make the quest active and make your way towards the main door.

Lockpick the door and go inside.

As soon as you enter the building’s main level, the quest will update with the new objective being, “reading the dusty tome in the middle of the room.”

Read the tome to progress the quest and learn about the building as well as details on where you can get its upgrades.
After reading the dusty tome, the new objective is to “find Aurelinwae at the Mystic Emporium in the Market District of the Imperial City.”

Now, before heading there, stand on the white circles to open the door to the main level.

Head inside. You will find:
- Portal to Frostcrag Spire Vault
- Portal to Frostcrag Living Area
Along with a bunch of other things like upgrade benches, altars, skill books and so on.

Explore the room. [Not mandatory!]

There’s also an Atronach Altar that you can interact with to summon different elemental Atronach companions.

To summon the Atronachs, you need three [Element] Salts.
For example, to summon the Frost Atronach, you need three Frost Salts.
As for where you can get these Frost Salts and other variants, these are drops from Atronach enemies.
You can also find some inside the Mystic Emporium building and the different Mages guilds and Arcane University.
- Facing lag and stutter while playing Oblivion Remastered? You can resolve this by making some changes to the Engine file and deleting a particular DLL file. Check out the linked guide for more details.
Where to get Frostcrag Spire upgrades in Oblivion Remastered

To get the Frostcrag Spire upgrades, head to the Imperial City Market District.

Once you spawn, follow the path on the left side and look for the Mystic Emporium shop.

It is located in the corner and the big board saying its name makes it hard to miss.

Head inside.

Talk to the NPC named Aurelinwae and choose the Barter option.

There you will find the four main upgrades:
- Frostcrag Alchemy Lab x2,477
- Frostcrag Bedroom Area x1,652
- Frostcrag Library Area x1,652
- Frostcrag Vault Area x1,652
Along with that, you will also find the Magetallow Candle Box required for using the Altar of Spellmaking and Altar of Enchanting.
Which upgrades should you get first for Frostcrag Spire in Oblivion Remastered?

While the Frostcrag Vault Area upgrade looks the best one as it gives you access to a ton of chests where you can store your equipment and anything you want, it is slightly buggy as there are times, when some items disappear from those chests.
So, if you ask me, I would go for the Bedroom Area upgrade first, then the Alchemy Lab, and so on.
And, if you are rich, just get all the upgrades!
