Rescue the Bride in Distress is one of the twelve Codex exploration quests that take place in the Quietis’s Demesne area.
What makes Rescue the Bride in Distress unique from the other exploration quests in the area is that it unlocks a brand new Guardian added with the Wilds of Talandre DLC.
Moreover, it also unlocks a unique title called Wedding Breaker, along with the regular rewards.
That said, as important as the quest is, completing it is also difficult.
Especially because there are certain NPCs you must find whose location does not appear on the map.
There’s also a tricky stealth segment that is hard to complete.
So, if you are struggling with the Rescue the Bride in Distress quest in Throne and Liberty, keep reading my guide.
How to unlock the Rescue the Bride in Distress quest
In Throne and Liberty, you can unlock the Rescue the Bride in Distress Codex exploration quest by completing the prerequisite quest, “For a Better Tomorrow.”
Apart from the above quest, you must also be level 46 or above.
And you must also have activated the Herba Village waypoint.
Assuming you meet all three requirements, head to the main menu > Codex > Exploration tab > Talandre region > Quietis’s Demesne tab.
There, you can find and favorite the Rescue the Bride in Distress quest to make it active.
Rescue the Bride in Distress Codex quest walkthrough
Rescue the Bride in Distress is a long exploration quest in Throne and Liberty with six story segments.
A few of these segments are long and really hard to complete.
That said, here’s an overview of all the major objectives you get in the Rescue the Bride in Distress exploration quest:
- Speak with Hamon at Herba Village Foehn Square
- Investigate the Suspicious Coffin at Herba Village Crypt
- Ask the Merchant Hartman about the marriage ceremony at Herba Village Abundance Street
- Ask the Restaurant Worker Ilsa about the marriage ceremony at Herba Village Specialty Street
- Enter a hiding spot nearby Herba Village Wedding Hall
- Move the Suspicious Coffin and speak with Dreadal at Herba Village Crypt
Now that you have a brief idea of the complete quest, here’s a detailed breakdown of how to complete each story segment.

Speak with Hamon at Herba Village Foehn Square
The first objective in the quest will task you to talk to an NPC named Hamon at Foehn Square in the Herba Village.
The fastest way to get there is to travel to the Herba Village Waypoint and glide down toward the square.
Hamon is standing near the big tree and is hard to miss.
Talk to him and exhaust his dialogues to progress the quest.
Investigate the Suspicious Coffin at Herba Village Crypt
After you talk to Hamon, you must suspect a mysterious coffin found at the Herba Village Crypt.
To head there—from Hamon’s location, follow the path on the left side.
To make things easier, I have marked the exact path that you must take in the above screenshot.
Once you arrive at the Crypt, go near the coffin and interact with it.
After that, you will be locked in a sequence where you must hear Dreadal and interact with his Anathema.
Find where the voice is coming from
In this section, all you have to do is wait for a while and go near the coffin.
Speak with Dreadal Guardian’s Pledge in the Coffin
In this section, you must interact with the coffin and wait until Dreadal’s story is over.
Wait until Dreadal’s story is over
WAIT!
Resonate with Dreadal’s Anathema
After Dreadal’s story is complete, a black mist will spawn.
That is his Anathema. Interact with it to progress the quest.

Yup! You must wait again for Dreadal to complete his story.
Resonate with Dreadal’s Anathema 2
Another Anathema will spawn next to the angel statue.
Interact with it.
Wait until Dreadal’s story is over 3
Once again, wait for Dreadal to complete his story.
Speak with Dreadal Guardian’s Pledge in the Coffin 2
Go near the coffin and interact with it to finally complete this story segment.
Phew!
That was a lot of back-and-forth while listening to a sad love story.
Ask the Merchant Hartman about the marriage ceremony at Herba Village Abundance Street
Finding the Merchant Hartman is one of the story segments in the Rescue the Bride in Distress quest where many players get stuck.
Why?
Because there is no quest marker until you find Hartman by yourself.
Another challenging thing is that the only clue you have is that you can find him in Abundance Street.
And since most players don’t care to read!
Some are too hasty to scroll past all the areas, they don’t know where to go next.
That said, Abundance Street is found in the western part of the Herba Village.
Follow the main path from Hamon’s location as I have marked on the above screenshot.
Go down the street and take the first left.
There, right in front of a structure with a blue roof, you will find Hartman.
The above player icon location is where you find Merchant Hartman.
Talk to him and exhaust his dialogues to progress to the next objective.
Ask the Restaurant Worker Ilsa about the marriage ceremony at Herba Village Specialty Street
The next task is to find Restaurant Worker Ilsa.
Thankfully, her location is marked on the map.
Make your way towards the player icon location as shown in the above map screenshot.
Once you arrive, you can find Ilsa outside of her restaurant.
Talk to her and exhaust her dialogues to progress the quest.
Enter a hiding spot nearby Herba Village Wedding Hall
Now comes the most difficult part of the Rescue the Bride in Distress quest.
In this story segment:
- You must find a hiding spot.
- Sneak your way to the Ferry while avoiding the guards and the groom, Nicolas.
- Interact with Nicolas’s Bag.
- Sneak your way towards the dock.
- Finally, talk to the Guard Captain.
Now, the hiding spot is behind the crates near the docks.
Its exact location is marked on the map and is easy to access.
Once you interact with it, the stealth segment will begin!
Search Nicolas’s Bag at the Wedding Hall
From your hiding spot, follow the straight path.
Blend in with the guests to ensure the guards don’t notice you.
Now, there are a bunch of ways in which you can sneak and reach Nicolas’s Bag.
The easiest and quickest one that I found was following the elevated path on the right side.
There are guests among whom you can blend.
Even if they are not there, just stay behind the guard and keep moving down the path on the left side.
You must maintain distance from the guards.
Otherwise, they will spot you, and you must restart the segment.
Once you are on the other side and near the Wedding Hall, do not haste.
Wait near the two guests as you can see I am doing in the above screenshot.
They remain there and don’t change their position.
What you are looking for is watching Nicolas’s movement.
Nicolas can spot you even if you are with the guests.
So, stay behind him and make sure you maintain distance.
Quickly interact with Nicolas’s Bag, as it will also create a checkpoint in case you get caught.
Investigate the Suspicious Chest near the Docks
Once again, watch Nicolas’s movement and stay behind him.
Make your way out of the wedding area without getting detected.
Now, stand at the location where I am standing in the above screenshot.
- A guard will be coming from the left.
- Another guard will be heading towards the docks.
- Two guards will go around the docks and move away from there.
Maintain the distance from the guards in front of you and slowly move toward the docks.
You must be efficient in this part as the guard on your left will also follow the same path where you are standing.
The Suspicious Chest is within the tent at the docks.
Interact with it to progress the quest.
Inform the Guard Captain about Nicolas’s atrocities
To reach the Guard Captain, you must sneak to his location.
Or you can take the quicker path.
Getting caught by the guards. Doing so will spawn you in front of the Guard Captain.
Talk to the Guard Captain and exhaust his dialogues to complete this story segment.
Move the Suspicious Coffin and speak with Dreadal at Herba Village Crypt
The last story segment in the Rescue the Bride in Distress quest requires you to head back to the Crypt and interact with the coffin.
Teleport to the Herba Village waypoint and glide toward the crypt.
Interact with the coffin to transform into Dreadal.
Approach Angeline’s shadow
Now, head towards the bench in the crypt.
You will find Angeline’s shadow. Interact to progress and complete the quest.
Rescue the Bride in Distress quest rewards

How to equip and use Wild Enchanter Dreadal Guardian in Throne and Liberty
To equip Dreadal, you must open the main menu and select the Guardians option found in the Character section.
In the Guadians list, you can navigate to Dreadal and press the respect button to assign him as the active Guardian.
Once done, you can transform into Dreadal by pressing:
- R1 + R2 on PS5
- RB + RT on Xbox
