If you are unable to find Spectermancer or the Spectral Shadowmancer enemies in Syleus’s Abyss or the page from Collection: Expedition Records: Syleus’s Abyss 1F-2F in the game, my Throne and Liberty Traces of the Missing Codex quest walkthrough guide will come in handy.
Traces of the Missing is one of the Codex quests associated with the first and second floors of Syleus’s Abyss, located in the Laslan region of Solisium.
It is an Exploration-type Codex quest that you can complete to earn lucrative rewards, including Quality Stellarite and Growth Books, with the final rewards being Rare Necklaces with excellent stats and bonuses.
Like most of the Codex quests in Throne and Liberty, many players find it hard to complete as there are certain enemies you must defeat and items you must find.
While the latter is easy, finding and defeating the required enemy types, which are the Spectermancer and the Spectral Shadowmancer, is daunting as they hardly spawn.
Moreover, there’s no clear description of how to spawn them.
As a result, many players get stuck with the Traces of the Missing quest and are locked out of the associated rewards.
If you are one such player, keep reading my guide on how to unlock and complete Traces of the Missing Codex quest in Throne and Liberty.

How to unlock Traces of the Missing quest in Throne and Liberty
In Throne and Liberty, you can unlock the Traces of the Missing Codex quest by entering the first floor of Syleus’s Abyss, located north of the Red Moon Lake near Carmine Forest.
First of all, make your way towards the Syleus’s Abyss Waypoint and unlock it.
After that, follow the main path to the dungeon’s entrance, as shown in the screenshot.
As soon as you arrive on the first floor, you will unlock the two Codex quests associated with the Syleus’s Abyss.
One of them being, Traces of the Missing!
Traces of the Missing quest walkthrough
The Traces of the Missing quest is divided into four parts. These are:
- Collect a page from Collection: Expedition Records: Syleus’s Abyss 1F-2F (0/1)
- Investigate the Decayed Coffin (0/2)
- Defeat Spectermancer (0/2)
- Defeat Spectral Shadowmancer (0/2)
Collect a page from Collection: Expedition Records: Syleus’s Abyss 1F-2F
To complete this quest section, you must collect any of the two Expedition Records found in Syleus’s Abyss 1F and 2F.
I would suggest collecting the record found right at the entrance of the Syleus’s Abyss.
When you enter the main gate of the dungeon’s 1F, turn right, and you will find a Mysterious Note, as shown in the screenshot.
Interact with it to complete the objective of “finding a page from Collection: Expedition Records: Syleus’s Abyss 1F-2F.”
That should complete the first objective.
However, for players who want to know where to find the other Collection: Expedition Records.
It is on the second floor.
Head straight from Syleus’s Abyss entrance, and you will find a big hole in the ground.
Drop down, using Gliding Morph, to land safely. If you were facing straight while dropping, take the path on your left.
If you dropped while facing backwards, take the path on your right.
Keep following it and near the coffin, you will find one of Mysterious Note, the second Collection: Expedition Records.
Investigate the Decayed Coffin
Investigating the Decayed Coffin is one of the easiest objectives in the Traces of the Missing quest in Throne and Liberty.
You can find a ton of Decayed Coffins on both 1F and 2F of the Syleus’s Abyss.
Still, for the sake of the guide, I have shared their locations for the easiest ones below:

The above two Decayed Coffins are on the first floor and can be accessed through the door on the right side of the entrance.

Throne and Liberty Spectermancer location and how to spawn
The Spectermancer is an event boss you can find in the chamber northwest and southeast of the Void Altar on the second floor of Syleus’s Abyss.
When you reach the area, look at whether a portal is near the coffin in the middle of the pool.
If there is one, the Spectermancer will soon spawn there.
However, if you don’t find the portal, you may have to wait until one spawns.
Sadly, I looked everywhere, and you can’t find the exact timing or such thing for the exact spawn time of the Spectermancer.
But, when one spawns, you can see the skull icon appear. Even if you are not near the spawn location.
However, I have always found Spectermancer whenever the Syleus’s Abyss opens during the day time after the nighttime Conflict Zone status ends.
Sometimes, the Spectermancer also spawns in the big hall where you find the second collection page.
Throne and Liberty Spectral Shadowmancer location and how to spawn
Like the Spectermancer, the Spectral Shadowmancer is another event boss that spawns on the second floor of the Syleus’s Abyss.
The Spectral Shadowmancer spawns in the room southwest of the Void Altar.
The structure of the room is similar to the Spectermancer’s spawn room, and similar to before, you must look for the portal.
If not, you must wait.
When did the Spectermancer and Spectral Shadowmancer spawn for me?
As I mentioned earlier, the Spectermancer and the Spectral Shadowmancer spawned for me whenever I entered the dungeon right after it changed from night to day, and the Syleus’s Abyss’s dungeon doors opened.
The second definite spawn, especially for the Spectral Shadowmancer, was when the time of the day changed from day to night, and I was still in the dungeon’s second floor.
When I was preparing this guide, I kept wandering near the Spectermancer and the Spectral Shadowmancer spawn areas, but I couldn’t get one to spawn.
So I left my character near the 2F Dungeon Waypoint, and as soon as the time changed from day to night, the Spectral Shadowmancer.
But, since I was in the Conflict Zone with my controller on my desk, a random player just killed me while I was AFK.
