For players who don’t know, Unidentified Contaminant is one of the four Codex quests available for the Windhill Shores area that players must complete to claim the final rewards.
It is an Exploration type Codex quest that is simple yet slightly confusing for many players to complete, especially the last objective.
So, if you are also stuck with the Unidentified Contaminant Windhill Shores Codex quest, here’s my walkthrough guide.

How to get Unidentified Contaminant quest in Throne and Liberty
In Throne and Liberty, you can get the Unidentified Contaminant quest via the Exploration section of the Codex.
To start the quest, open the ‘Main Menu’ and head to the ‘Codex’ tab.
After that, navigate to the ‘Exploration’ tab and select the Windhill Shores. You can find it in the Laslan region drop-down menu on the left.
You will find the Unidentified Contaminant quest that you can unlock by progressing the main story quest, “News from Mina.”

Here’s a detailed walkthrough:
Talk to the Windhill Shores Researcher at Spiral Cliff
In this section of the quest, you must head to the rear of the Lighthouse at the Spiral Cliff in the Windhill Shores area.
You will find a female NPC, “Purelight Tower-Windhill Shores Researcher.”
Talk to her and exhaust her dialogues to progress the quest.
Acquire a Magical Reagent
After you talk to the researcher, the next objective is to acquire a Magical Reagent.
To get it, you must go near the rack left of the researcher and interact with it. Doing so will complete the objective.
Glide Morph and spray the Unidentified Contaminant
Once you have acquired the Magical Reagent from the rack, the next objective is to “Glide Morph and spray the Unidentified Contaminant on the east side of the Spiral Cliff, without touching the seawater, in under one minute.”
It is a time-sensitive objective, so without wasting any time, stand on the cliff left to you while facing the researcher.
Now, use the Glide Morph by double pressing the Jump key and glide towards the wooden plank platforms near the shore.
Do not speed up the Glide Morph before getting near the platform; otherwise, you won’t be able to make it.
Once you are on the platform, interact with the dead crab to spray the Unidentified Contaminant.
Defeat a Large Stone Crab
The next and final objective of the Unidentified Contaminant quest task is to defeat a Large Stone Crab that is Wet from rain or seawater.
There are two ways to complete this objective. The first one is to kill any Large Stone Crab found on the nearby shore while it is raining.
On the other hand, if it is not raining in your game world, just aggro a Large Stone Crab by hitting it once and letting it follow you in the seawater.
Once the crab is within the seawater, defeat it, and you will complete the final objective and the Codex quest, Unidentified Contaminant.
