The ultimate class tier list for PoE 2!

If you are looking for a Path of Exile 2 early access class tier list to decide which class you should play in the game, I’ve got covered with this guide.

Path of Exile 2 features a massive roster of 12 character classes, of which six will be available during the game’s early access.

Most ARPGs and MMOs stick to the general class archetypes, where we get a Tank, Mage, Assassin, Healer, etc., but Path of Exile 2 is very different.

Why? Features like the Skill Gem system allow you to use active and passive skills that don’t belong to your class.

Moreover, we also have a dual specialization, where players can allocate Passive Skill Points to different weapons, opening a lot of options for build crafting.

Then, we have the class ascendancies that are unique to each character class and flesh out the class’s abilities.

This is why you must know which classes are good to play in and which you must avoid.

With that said, here’s my Path of Exile 2 class tier list.

Path of Exile 2 class selection

My PoE 2 early access class tier list is based on my impressions of each class after watching the preview videos.

I also looked at the class skills and other reveals made by Grinding Gear Games in the past and recently on their Twitter handle and official YouTube.

Other than that, I have gone through the End Game Reveal video, the walkthroughs of the game currently available ahead of the official release, and so on.

Now, the major factor behind each class’s rankings is their ascendancies and starting position in the skill tree.

With all that being out of the way, here’s my Path of Exile 2 early access class tier list:

  • S tier: The classes in this tier list offer great skills from the early game with a lot of potential in mob and boss farming. Their potential is further improved as you level up.
  • A tier: The classes in this tier list are good in terms of DPS, and it is easy to create strong builds.
  • B tier: The classes in this tier are good and on par with A-tier classes, but they start very slow and have a lot of downtime for skills.
  • C tier: The classes in this tier are hard to play.

Update on December 12, 2024

I have moved the Monk class from C to A tier as after unlocking the ascendancy, it becomes a great class to use.

Once Path of Exile 2 comes out, I will adjust the tier list and the different build guides based on my experience.

Best classes for easy leveling up, mob, and bosses farming in Path of Exile 2

Regarding the best classes for leveling up, mob, and boss farming in Path of Exile 2, based on my experience with Diablo 4, I can say that some classes are good for mob farming and easy level-up.

On the other hand, some classes are good in terms of farming bosses.

Moreover, there are specific builds that work well for these activities; thus, ranking general base classes will mean nothing.

For example, the Deadeye Ranger would be an S-tier class for farming bosses, whereas a Pathfinder Ranger would work really well in farming mobs.

Now, remember that both Deadeye and Pathfinder Ranger can be used for leveling up, clearing the main story, farming mobs and bosses, but the real difference comes when you compare how easy and quick it is to clear those things.

Keeping that in mind, here are some of the classes and particular ascendancies that I would recommend to go for:

  • Deadeye Ranger
  • Stormweaver Sorceress
  • Witch Hunter Mercenary
  • Blood Mage Witch
  • Infenalist Witch
  • Warbringer Warrior

Lastly, I would also like to say, especially to new players, that while knowing which classes are good or bad is fine, I would highly recommend playing the class that seems most fun to you.

I personally would play as Stormweaver Sorceress or the Infenalist Witch before trying out any other characters.

So, which character will you be playing as in Path of Exile 2? Please let me know in the comments.

That is concludes my Path of Exile 2 tier list. If the article helped, please consider buying me a Coffee to help me create more content. You can also share the article with your friends or leave a comment.
