The Spinning Wheel is one of the Refining Category buildings in the game that you need for making crafting materials like Linen Fabric and others.
However, just like most of the buildings and structures, to use the Spinning Wheel, you must first unlock it and craft and place it.
But since there are no details on what unlocks it, I prepared this guide.
Pre-requisite to unlock Spinning Wheel
In Windrose, to unlock the Spinning Wheel, you must complete the main mission, “Revenge Is Best Served Cold.”
Once you do that, the next mission, Needle in Haystack, will take you to the Foothills Island, where you will find Flax required for unlocking the Spinning Wheel.

How to unlock the Spinning Wheel refining facility
In Windrose, you can unlock the Spinning Wheel automatically when you collect the Flax for the first time.
As I mentioned earlier, you can find Flax in the Foothills. It is the group of blue flowers you see in the screenshot above.
As soon as you collect the first one, you will be able to craft the Spinning Wheel.
Crafting Spinning Wheel
To craft the Spinning Wheel, open the base building menu and head to the ‘Crafting & Utilities’ section.
There, in the ‘Refining’ section, you will find the Spinning Wheel. To craft it, you need:
- Wood x10
- Rope x5
Assuming you have the material, place the Spinning Wheel and build a roof on top of it to use the facility.
