If you are someone who prefer long range battles but also likes to engage in close combat based on the situation, my RuneScape Dragonwilds best Ranger build is for you.

RuneScape Dragonwilds features a variety of weapons and armor sets that players can use to attain different builds.

While there is no definite class or any way to put points in any particular attribute, the game, even in early access, gives you a decent bit of options for build crafting.

During my time with the game, one of the most fun builds that I used to roleplay as was a Ranger.

Why?

Because taking out enemies from long range increased my chances of survival.

On the same note, having a dagger infused with the Air Enchanment ensured I can quickly take out enemies up close without over relying on my bow.

That said, if you also like to play as a Ranger, I have the perfect build ready for you.

The best ranger build in RuneScape Dragonwilds explained

To attain the best ranger build, you must have a Longbow, a Shortbow and a Dagger or the Abyssal Whip for close range.

Moreover, to ensure you don’t run out of Stamina after a few shots, you need a Ranged Armor with all three pieces.

The Ranged Armor set not only reduces the Stamina Cost of your shots, but it also comes with Weak Point Damage and Stealth Speed boost.

Lastly, when it comes to consumables, the Ferocious Infusion Potion is a great choice as it further reduces the Stamina cost of your attacks.

Now that I have vaguely discussed the build, here are the exact equipments that will allow you to attain the best Ranger build in RuneScape Dragonwilds:

Best bow for Ranger build in RuneScape Dragonwilds

There are two bows that you need for the best Ranger build:

Hunter Stagbow

RuneScape Dragonwilds Hunter's Stagbow Crafted

The Hunter’s Stagbow is currently the most powerful longbow in the entire game that comes with a x4.3 Arrow Damage multiplier.

It is a Power Level 4 weapon that also has a special effect that reduces the draw time for ranged attacks.

And, as most of you might already know, longbows draw time is a lot, reducing the overall DPS.

So with the special effect, you counter one of the biggest downside of the weapon.

The Oak Longbow (Alternative)

The Oak Longbow is a Power Level 3 bow that comes with a 2.8x Arrow DMG multiplier and a base damage boost of 28, instead of a Special Attack.

While it is not the best one to use, it surely gets the job done until you get your hands on the Hunter Stagbow.

Crystal Bow

The Crystal Bow is a Masterwork weapon and a Power Level 3 Shortbow that can shred enemies in mid to close range combat.

It comes with a x3.45 Arrow Damage multipler and has a special action called Shatteshot that fires exploding arrows in a cone shape area in front of the character.

The range of the action skill is good and it deals damage in two steps. First, the initial damage from the arrows and then damage from the explosion.

Whether you are farming mobs or taking out Velgar, the Crystal Bow is the best shortbow to use.

Difference between Longbow and Shortbow in RuneScape Dragonwilds

The different between Longbow and Shortbow in pretty much self explanatory. The Longbow has a far better range than the Shortbow.

Moreover, the arrow fly and fall range for the Longbow is a lot better when compared to Shortbow.

To put it in more simple terms, the Longbow can easily snipe enemies from range and manage to hit consistent critical strikes and weak spots than the Shortbow.

Whereas the Shortbow is quick and better in mid to close range engagements.

Best secondary weapon for Ranger build in RuneScape Dragonwilds

The best secondary weapon for Ranger build is going to be the Dragonbone Dagger.

It is a Power Level 4 weapon that comes with a +15% Critical Chance.

It is a very quick weapon that you can use with the Wind or Fire enchantments to further improve its effectiveness and DPS.

I chose the dagger only because it fits more into the build. Afterall, it is a Ranger build.

But, you can also use the S-tier Abyssal Whip, as it is a beast of a weapon for close range combat.

Best armor set for the Ranger build in RuneScape Dragonwilds

The Ranged Armor Set is best for the Ranger build as with three pieces, you get the following set bonus:

  1. Stealth Speed +40%
  2. Ranged Attack Stamina Cost -33%
  3. Weak Point Damage +25%

Now, I have seen some players try out two pieces of the Ranged Armor set and one piece of the Mage set to get the -50% Stamina Regen Delay.

I tested it out against Velgar and the true boss, the Garou Troops, and I found three pieces of the Ranger Set better than the latter.

Because +25% Weakspot Damage is just too much to miss out on.

Now, when it comes to which Ranged Armor set you should be using, I recommend going for:

  • Studded Leather Ranged armor set or
  • Wild Archer armor set

Both the sets have same attribute values and just differ in aethetics.

That said, I like the Wild Archer armor set as it looks far better than the alternative.

Wild Archer armor set

As for Cloak, you can use any. I personally like the Garou Highborn’s Cloak a lot.
