Path of Exile 2 is a free-to-play ARPG and the second installment in the Path of Exile franchise.
It will soon be available in early access on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms and may already be out, depending on when you read this article.
In the first few minutes of the game, when you are given to select your starting class, you won’t find any option or button that leads to character customization.
While the OG Path of Exile players already know the answer, it isn’t a surprise for them.
The new players often look for ways to customize their characters or change genders in the game.

Is there a character customization feature in Path of Exile 2?
The short answer is no! Path of Exile 2 doesn’t feature character customization in the early access.
From the looks of it, the game will not have a character customization option even in full release, similar to the first game.
For new players to the franchise, unlike other ARPGs like Diablo 4, which offers a detailed character customization option with easy switching between the TWO Genders, Path of Exile has hardcoded characters.
In simple words, each class is gender locked and has a default character whom you will be playing as.
The same is true for the newest installment, Path of Exile 2.
At least, that is the case at the moment.
You cannot customize your character’s appearance or change their gender.
In the past, the developers have been asked about incorporating character customization into the game.
But the response has not been positive. It seems that the feature requires a lot more work than the actual benefit it provides.
Alternate genders may be available in the game’s in-game shop via microtransaction.
But take it with a massive grain of salt until developers Grinding Gear Games confirms it themselves.
As a player, I am personally fine with having no character customization option.
However, I would really like if the devs at least add alternate genders so that players looking to play classes like the Mercenary class as a female, they would be able to do so.
